Ultraviolet and Infrared Correlation Studies in Orion

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2015
We have studied the variation of diffuse ultraviolet (UV) radiation in the northern part of the Orion constellation using a set of eight areas of the GALEX All-Sky Imaging Survey in the far and near UV.

X-Ray Spectral Characterization of the Young Cygnus OB2 Population

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
We analyze the X-ray spectra of the ∼8000 sources detected in the Cygnus OB2 Chandra Legacy Survey (this focus issue), with the goals of characterizing the coronal plasma of the young low-mass stars in the region and estimating their intrinsic X-ray ...

Chandra Orion Ultradeep Project: Observations and Source Lists [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We present a description of the data reduction methods and the derived catalog of more than 1600 X-ray point sources from the exceptionally deep January 2003 Chandra X-ray Observatory observation of the Orion Nebula Cluster and embedded populations ...

Comparison of Two Methods for Determination of Rhenium and Platinum‐Group Elements in Meteorites Using On‐Line and Off‐Line Matrix Separation Modes

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, Volume 49, Issue 4, Page 737-750, December 2025.
Key Points PEEK tubing has been observed to adsorb Pd and Pt ions, resulting in significantly reduced recoveries of Pd and Pt elements. HPA‐S provides a more effective dissolution for meteorite samples than Carius tube digestion, resulting in higher mass fractions for PGE.

X-Ray Variability in the Orion Nebula [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1990
We have examined each of the 172 EINSTEIN X–ray sources in Orion for both short (100–10,000 seconds) and long (1 day to 2 years) timescale variability. No strong flares were seen in 75,000 total seconds of observations. We compare the Orion variability results with those from the ρ Oph star–forming region, solar X–ray flares and dMe U–band flares.

On the Structure of the Orion A Cloud and the Formation of the Orion Nebula Cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We suggest that the Orion A cloud is gravitationally collapsing on large scales, and is producing the Orion Nebula Cluster due to the focusing effects of gravity acting within a finite cloud geometry.

The Qingzhen reaction, a fine‐grained mineral assemblage associated with djerfisherite in some EH3 chondrites: Alteration on the EH parent body

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 60, Issue 12, Page 2913-2934, December 2025.
Abstract Enstatite chondrites formed under extremely reducing conditions in the protoplanetary disk. They are derived from two or more parent bodies, EH and EL, and both EH and EL groups contain petrologic type 3–6 samples. The rare lithophile‐ and halogen‐bearing sulfide, djerfisherite, occurs in low abundance in enstatite chondrites, most frequently ...

Pre‐Orion Cores in the Trifid Nebula [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2000
The Trifid nebula is a young HII region undergoing a burst of star formation. In this article, we report on far-infrared and millimeter continuum and line observations of several massive and bright protostellar sources in the vicinity of the exciting star fo the nebula, just behind the ionization front.

Detection of deuterium Balmer lines in the Orion Nebula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The detection and first identification of the deuterium Balmer emission lines, D-alpha and D-beta, in the core of the Orion Nebula is reported. Observations were conducted at the 3.6m Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, using the Echelle spectrograph Gecko ...

The Fashioning of the Humanist Governor at the Dawn of a New Political and Cultural Era: Francesco Barbaro as Podestà of Venetian Vicenza

open access: yesRenaissance Studies, Volume 39, Issue 4, Page 473-492, September 2025.
Abstract The patrician Francesco Barbaro (1390–1454) is well known for having been both a first‐class humanist and a figurehead of the Venetian government in the new territories of the Stato da Terra. This article explores the pioneering use of humanist culture in the official praises he received during his political career, which helped shape a ...
