Osteoblast response to zirconia modified-ORMOSILs
Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2020In this study, an in vitro evaluation of the human osteoblasts response to Organically Modified Silicate (ORMOSIL) biomaterials was conducted. These materials were synthetized by sol-gel process being modified with zirconia (ZrO2) and/or Ca2+. The materials were immersed into phosphate buffer solution (PBS) in order to test precipitation of mimetic ...

ABSTRACTA new technique which permits the successful preparation of ORMOSILS (Organically Modified Silicates) with rubbery elasticity has been developed. Common alkoxides were reacted with polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS) and the microstructures were carefully controlled. Large monoliths of the porous rubbery ORMOSILS have been prepared.

Surface modified ormosil nanoparticles
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2004Organically modified silanes (ORMOSIL) such as vinyl triethoxysilane readily aggregate in the aqueous cores of reverse micelles where the triethoxysilane moieties are hydrolyzed to form a hydrated silica network and the vinyl groups protruded out from the surface of the nanoparticles toward the hydrophobic side of the micellar interface.

ABSTRACTOrganically modified silicates (ormosils) of high hardness were prepared by the reactions of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) aided by ultrasonic irradiation. The mechanisms leading to the hard ormosil formation were investigated by liquid state 29Si

Hardness Equation for Ormosils
Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 2000Hardness of ormosils coating on various kinds of substrates is important, and by considering recent progresses in understanding the hardness of ionic crystals or covalent crystals, new hardness equations for calculating the hardness of glasses or ormosils from chemical compositions were derived.

Mechanical properties of ormosils
Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 1996Many organically modified silicates (ormosils) can be prepared by the sol-gel method with very different mechanical properties by varying the ratio of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) to tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) contents and processing conditions.

ORMOSIL films: Properties and microelectronic applications
Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 1997The properties, as well as some issues of microelectronic applications of organically modified silicate (ORMOSIL) films, prepared by cohydrolysis in various proportions of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and phenyltriethoxysilane (PTEOS), or diphenyldiethylhexyloxydiethoxydisiloxane (DPS)1, are discussed.

Two Photon Polymerization of Ormosils
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010In this work, 3D structures of hybrid polymers—ORMOSILS (organically modified silicates) were produced via Two Photon Polymerization (2PP) of hybrid methacrylates based on silane derivates.Synthetic routes have been used to obtain series of hybrid monomers, their structure and purity being checked by NMR Spectroscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared ...

Ormosil coatings of high hardness
Journal of Materials Science, 1995Organically modified silicates (ormosils) of two systems were coated on polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) substrates. One was the tetraethoxysilane (TEOS)-vinyltriethoxysilane (VTES) system and the other was the TEOS-tetraisopropyltitanate (TIPT)-VTES system. The reactions among the alkoxides were examined by liquid state 29Si nuclear magnetic resonance (

Tribological properties of ormosil coatings
Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 1996Transparent plastics are not scratch resistant. The damage leads to a loss of optical properties. Coatings prepared using either tetraethoxysilane or colloidal silica particles embedded in “glymo” is a way to avoid these disadvantages. Tribological experiments are carried out to better understand the surface modification due to a sliding friction.
