Population trends and variability within bird communities are amplified by intense land use
We show that bird populations in farmland have stronger long‐term changes and are more variable around these changes than in woodland. Disentangling these two components of population stability helps understand the effects of anthropogenic pressures on wild communities.

The authors distil how dimensions of biodiversity drive ecosystem processes with increasing temperature. Specifically, species physiology more greatly affected ecosystem primary production than did foraging behaviour, and physiology mediated non‐additive interactions with temperature.

Parasites can alter host communities in complex ways, but empirical data from natural systems are rare. This study decomposes the effects of an invasive parasite on natural communities of fish in Trinidad, revealing the direct, indirect, and context dependence of the invasion on host demographic rates and community structure.

For the first time, predation and scavenging networks are directly compared within a single ecosystem.
