Evaluation of the I-gel, a supraglottic airway device in children undergoing day care surgery

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil University, 2015
Background: The i-gel is a novel supraglottic airway device, made up of medical grade thermoplastic elastomer. Its soft noninflatable cuff causes easier insertion, minimal tissue compression and stability after insertion.

Impact of Mask Type on Pharyngeal Opening Pressures During Drug‐Induced Sleep Endoscopy

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 135, Issue 12, Page 4976-4982, December 2025.
Assessment of the impact of mask type on pharyngeal opening pressures during drug‐induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) is currently lacking. Our study demonstrates that pharyngeal opening pressures at the velum, oropharynx, and tongue base are significantly reduced using nasal vs. full‐face mask techniques.

Transoral Robotic‐Assisted Removal of a Submucosal Pyriform Sinus Foreign Body

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 135, Issue 12, Page 4651-4654, December 2025.
Submucosal foreign bodies of the medial pyriform sinus represent a challenge given limited visualization and difficult retraction with endoscopic approaches, and risk of injury to the recurrent laryngeal nerve with open approaches. We present a novel case utilizing the Da Vinci SP system for removal of an embedded fishbone from the medial pyriform ...

Comparative evaluation of self-pressurized Air-Q® and Proseal™ LMA® in patients undergoing elective surgery under general anaesthesia: A randomized clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology
Background and Aims: Intra-cuff pressure of Air-Q self-pressurized laryngeal airways (Air-Q SP) balances airway pressure and adapts to patient’s pharyngeal and periglottic structures, thus improves oropharyngeal leak pressure (OLP).This study was ...

Antimicrobial prescribing guidelines for horses in Australia

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 103, Issue 12, Page 781-889, December 2025.
The growing problem of antimicrobial resistance also affects equine veterinarians with increasing frequency. Antimicrobial stewardship and responsible prescribing are essential for a future in which effective antimicrobials are available, as it is unlikely that new antimicrobials will become available for use in horses.
