Selenoproteins contain selenium in stoichiometric amounts. Most are synthesized by a process that decodes UGA codons as selenocysteine. Twelve animal selenoproteins have been characterized, and biochemical functions have been described for all but three. Two of these "orphan" selenoproteins are discussed in this paper.

Abstract Throughout the 1960s, the racialized transpacific networks forged in the 1950s had unexpected effects on the lives of Korean children, including orphans like Oh Chiyŏng, who joined the World Vision Korean Orphan Choir. No World Vision program was more popular than the World Vision Korean Orphan Choir in the 1960s.
