Supportive periodontal care during active orthodontic therapy in patients with history of stage IV periodontitis: A narrative review

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract The present narrative review aims to summarize the existing literature on recommendations for supportive periodontal care (SPC) in patients undergoing combined periodontal–orthodontic treatment. It outlines a comprehensive step‐4 treatment sequence in patients diagnosed with stage IV periodontitis and concurrent orthodontic problems.

Predictability of In‐Office Clear Aligner at Final Canine Retraction: A Comparison of Interproximal Contact Tightness and Canine Distalization Between Virtual and Actual Outcomes in Premolar Extraction Cases

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, Volume 29, Issue 2, Page 269-280, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This retrospective study aimed to evaluate interproximal contact tightness (ICT) at completion of maxillary canine retraction in first premolar extraction cases treated with In‐office Clear Aligner (IOCA). Materials and Methods The study sample comprised 18 subjects who underwent maxillary first premolar extractions.

Third Palatal Rugae as Stable Landmarks for Intraoral Models' Superimposition in Extraction Cases: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, Volume 29, Issue 2, Page 326-335, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives To validate the third palatal rugae as stable reference landmarks for the superimposition of maxillary digital models in premolar extraction cases. Materials and Methods Maxillary intraoral scanning digital models of 22 extraction patients, obtained before (T0) and after approximately 4 months of incisor retraction (T1), were ...

The Relationship of Various Arch Forms and Cortical Bone Thickness

open access: yesFrontiers in Dentistry, 2011
Objective: Implants are being used in orthodontics as a reliable mode of anchorage. Among other factors, the cortical bone thickness plays a major role in determining the stability of these implants.

Class II malocclusion with accentuated occlusal plane inclination corrected with miniplate: a case report

open access: yesDental Press Journal of Orthodontics
Introduction: A canted occlusal plane presents an unesthetic element of the smile. The correction of this asymmetry has been typically considered difficult by orthodontists, as it requires complex mechanics and may sometimes even require orthognathic ...

Impact of Clear Aligners on the Temporomandibular Joint: A Systematic Review

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, Volume 29, Issue 2, Page 209-224, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) may experience alterations during orthodontic treatments. Furthermore, gaps in the literature highlight a lack of robust evidence on the impact of clear aligner therapy (CAT) on the TMJ. This review aims to find the current evidence regarding the effects of CAT on the TMJ. Electronic searches were conducted in

Orthodontic camouflage of skeletal Class III malocclusion with miniplate: a case report

open access: yesDental Press Journal of Orthodontics
Introduction: Skeletal Class III malocclusion is often referred for orthodontic treatment combined with orthognathic surgery. However, with the aid of miniplates, some moderate discrepancies become feasible to be treated without surgery.

Arginine Methylation Antagonizes TEAD3‐Mediated Repression to Promote Osteogenic Differentiation by Disrupting RUNX2‐Sequestrating Condensates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 16, 18 March 2026.
In the unmethylated state, TEAD forms stable, repressive condensates that sequester the osteogenic master regulator RUNX2. Arginine methylation of TEAD at R55 acts as a molecular brake, dissolving these condensates to release RUNX2 and activate the osteogenic program.

Occlusal Plane, Mandibular Position and Dentoalveolar Changes during the Orthodontic Treatment with the Use of Mini-Screws

open access: yesDentistry Journal
This study aimed to describe the changes produced on the occlusal plane (OP), the mandibular position and the dentoalveolar compensations of patients with distalization of the maxillary/mandibular arch assisted by mini-screws (MS).

Translational Pathways for Smart and Bioactive Dental Biomaterials: Biocompatibility Standards, Sterilisation, Sustainability and Regulation

open access: yesMedComm – Biomaterials and Applications, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Smart and bioactive dental biomaterials can do more than replace tissue, but getting them into the clinic requires more than promising lab results. This review brings together practical requirements for translation, covering ISO‐based biocompatibility planning, low‐temperature sterilisation for sensitive materials, life‐cycle assessment for ...
