Vertical extrusion using a removable orthodontic appliance

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1988
Vertical extrusion is a useful adjunct to periodontal-restorative procedures, particularly in the anterior segment of the dentition in which esthetic appearance is a primary concern. In the case presented, a multidisciplinary approach was used to treat a tooth successfully with extensive subgingival destruction.

Response of Human Pulpal Tissue to Orthodontic Extrusive Applications

Journal of Endodontics, 2001
The aim of this study was to investigate histologically the human pulp response to orthodontic extrusive force applications. In group 1, 20 teeth were extruded with the use of a fixed sectional orthodontic appliance. In group 2, 20 teeth were extruded by means of 1/4-inch 4.5-oz elastics. The test periods were 10 and 40 days.

[Controlled orthodontic extrusion with subsequent implantation].

Schweizer Monatsschrift fur Zahnmedizin = Revue mensuelle suisse d'odonto-stomatologie = Rivista mensile svizzera di odontologia e stomatologia, 2005
Controlled orthodontic extrusion constitutes a non-surgical technique to increase alveolar bone material. Prosthetic reconstruction alone frequently does not achieve sufficient long-term aesthetics. An adequate implantation bed is indispensable to meet aesthetic demands.

The effect of extrusive orthodontic forces on human pulp and dentin

European Journal of Oral Sciences, 1971
