An embedding potential definition of channel functions

open access: yes, 2004
We show that the imaginary part of the embedding potential, a generalised logarithmic derivative, defined over the interface between an electrical lead and some conductor, has orthogonal eigenfunctions which define conduction channels into and out of the

Moments of Wishart-Laguerre and Jacobi ensembles of random matrices: application to the quantum transport problem in chaotic cavities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We collect explicit and user-friendly expressions for one-point densities of the real eigenvalues $\{\lambda_i\}$ of $N\times N$ Wishart-Laguerre and Jacobi random matrices with orthogonal, unitary and symplectic symmetry.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Interference Channel with an Out-of-Band Relay

open access: yes, 2010
A Gaussian interference channel (IC) with a relay is considered. The relay is assumed to operate over an orthogonal band with respect to the underlying IC, and the overall system is referred to as IC with an out-of-band relay (IC-OBR).

A scheme for cancelling intercarrier interference using conjugate transmission in multicarrier communication systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
To mitigate intercarrier interference (ICI), a two-path algorithm is developed for multicarrier communication systems, including orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The first path employs the regular OFDM algorithm. The second path

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Region‐to‐Region Unidirectional Connection In Vitro Brain Model for Studying Directional Propagation of Neuropathologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A unidirectional cerebral organoid–organoid neural circuit is established using a microfluidic platform, enabling controlled directional propagation of electrical signals, neuroinflammatory cues, and neurodegenerative disease–related proteins between spatially separated organoids.

An All‐Optical Driven Bio‐Photovoltaic Interface for Active Control of Live Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐photovoltaic Interface (BIO‐PV‐I) for live cell manipulation is presented. BIO‐PV‐I can be activated non‐invasively and remotely to control the spatial motility, adhesion, and morphology of cells adhering to it. BIO‐PV‐I uses a patterned light‐induced electric potential in iron‐doped lithium niobate crystals whose light‐driven and reversible nature,

Multipath Multiplexing for Capacity Enhancement in SIMO Wireless Systems

open access: yes, 2017
This paper proposes a novel and simple orthogonal faster than Nyquist (OFTN) data transmission and detection approach for a single input multiple output (SIMO) system. It is assumed that the signal having a bandwidth $B$ is transmitted through a wireless
