Maximum bandwidth of orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) over multipath fading channel

2004 International Conference on Communications, Circuits and Systems (IEEE Cat. No.04EX914), 2004
Orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) is known as an effective method for high-rate transmission over frequency selective fading channels. However, time variations of the channel within an OFDM symbol leads to a loss of orthogonality between subcarriers, resulting in interchannel interference (ICI).

Scalable network planning for elastic optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) networks

2012 8th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks & Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2012
We propose to achieve scalable O-OFDM network planning with a genetic algorithm (GA) that operates in an adaptive way for high optimization efficiency. When the network topology and lightpath requests are given, the GA encodes the routing, spectrum and modulation assignments (RSMA) as genes and optimizes them iteratively.

A Mixed Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (X-OFDM) Waveform for Optical Wireless Communication

2020 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps, 2020
Optical wireless communication (OWC), with intensity modulation (IM), requires the modulated radio frequency (RF) signal to be real and non-negative. To satisfy the requirements, this paper proposes a novel mixed orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (X-OFDM) waveform. Hermitian symmetry (HS) of the sub-carriers in frequency domain, guarantees the

Implementation and performance evaluation of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) using WARP

2015 International Seminar on Intelligent Technology and Its Applications (ISITIA), 2015
The main problem in high data rate transmision is frequency selective fading due to multipath propagation. This fading causes deep fade on signal spectrum at one particular frequency. To overcome this problem, many researchers proposed a multi-carrier technique, which divides wideband signal bandwidth into multiple narrowband signal before transmitted ...

Covet underwater acoustic communication based on spread spectrum orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2017
A covert underwater acoustic communication (UAC) method is realized with a dolphin whistle as the information carrier. The proposed method jointly utilizes the spread spectrum and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) techniques. The original dolphin whistle is represented as the complex baseband OFDM transmitted signal and the phase of its

Symbol timing offset (STO) correction in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based systems

2014 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing, 2014
OFDM is a Multicarrier modulation (MCM) technique, which in used in 4G standards. In OFDM systems, symbols are transmitted in parallel on several narrowband subcarriers, which are overlapping and orthogonal to each other. OFDM is superior to other systems because it incurs zero Inter Symbol Interference (ISI) or less amount of ISI which can be ...

Frequency domain iq imbalance correction scheme for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems

2003 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking, 2003. WCNC 2003., 2005
Future, high bit rate communication systems tolerate very little error in the modulation. This means that conventionally negligible error sources like the imbalance between the in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) branches of the receiver can start limiting the performance of the system.
