Power Line Communication as a Sensor: Medium Voltage Cable Diagnostics

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This article investigates the use of broadband power line (BPL) communication as a diagnostic tool for medium‐voltage cables. Experimental results show that BPL modem parameters change in the presence of partial discharges, enabling real‐time monitoring of insulation health and supporting predictive maintenance.

Non-Orthogonal Multicarrier Waveform for Radar With Communications Systems: 24 GHz GFDM RadCom

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, we propose the usage of Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing (GFDM), a non-orthogonal multicarrier waveform for radar. We presented a novel method that cancels the effect of interference caused by the non-orthogonality of GFDM ...

Processing and Resolution Losses Due to Range Cell Migration—Application to Automotive Radar

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar &Navigation, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study analyzes how range cell migration (RCM) affects pulse compression and Doppler processing in high‐resolution radar systems. Theoretical models including RCM effects are developed for both pulse and frequency‐modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar. Resolution and processing losses are quantified for FMCW, linearly frequency‐modulated (LFM) and

Frequency-domain precoding for single carrier frequency-division multiple access [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
At present there is considerable interest in the use of single carrier frequency-division multiple access. This interest is justified by the inherent single carrier structure of the SC-FDMA scheme, which is more robust against phase noise and has a lower

A DFT-Based Scheme for PAPR Reduction in SR-OFDM Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper focuses on the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction in symbol repetition-based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (SR-OFDM) systems, and a discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-based scheme is proposed to reduce the PAPR of SR-OFDM ...

Design Simulation of IEEE 802.11a Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) Modem

open access: yesFES Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2011
This work is concerned with the design, software implementation considerations and performance evaluation of an 802.11a WLAN modem at base band level. The function of each block in transmitter is completely specified in the standard. But the receiver is not fully specified. Only the broad functionalities and the performance requirements are specified.

PSO Algorithm on PAPR Reduction Performance of Asymmetrically Clipped Optical‐OFDM

open access: yesApplied Computational Intelligence and Soft Computing, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This research presents a novel hybrid optimization framework combining artificial neural networks (ANN) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) to mitigate the high peak‐to‐average power ratio (PAPR) in asymmetrically clipped optical‐orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (ACO‐OFDM) systems. While conventional PTS effectively reduces PAPR, it suffers

Multiuser MIMO-OFDM for Next-Generation Wireless Systems

open access: yes, 2007
This overview portrays the 40-year evolution of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) research. The amelioration of powerful multicarrier OFDM arrangements with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems has numerous benefits, which are ...

Circuit‐Theoretic Modeling and Simulation Study of Near‐Field MIMO Arrays of Dipole Antennas

open access: yesActive and Passive Electronic Components, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Near‐field mutual coupling among closely spaced antennas limits the deployment of wireless MIMO interconnects in chip‐to‐chip communication. This paper presents a circuit‐theoretic modeling and simulation study of near‐field MIMO (NFMIMO) systems using 1 × 1 and 2 × 2 dipole arrays.
