Analysis of the effects of phase-noise in orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) systems
Proceedings IEEE International Conference on Communications ICC '95, 2002In OFDM transmission schemes, phase-noise from oscillator instabilities in the receiver is a potentially serious problem, especially when bandwidth efficient, high order signal constellations are employed. The paper analyses the two effects of phase-noise: inter-carrier interference (ICI) and a phase error common to all OFDM sub-carriers.

Maximum bandwidth of orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) over multipath fading channel

No.04EX914), 2004Orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) is known as an effective method for high-rate transmission over frequency selective fading channels. However, time variations of the channel within an OFDM symbol leads to a loss of orthogonality between subcarriers, resulting in interchannel interference (ICI).

We propose to achieve scalable O-OFDM network planning with a genetic algorithm (GA) that operates in an adaptive way for high optimization efficiency. When the network topology and lightpath requests are given, the GA encodes the routing, spectrum and modulation assignments (RSMA) as genes and optimizes them iteratively.
