When machines join the moral circle: The persona effect of generative AI agents in collaborative reasoning

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Generative AI is increasingly positioned as a peer in collaborative learning, yet its effects on ethical deliberation remain unclear. We report a between‐subjects experiment with university students (N = 217) who discussed an autonomous‐vehicle dilemma in triads under three conditions: human‐only control, supportive AI teammate or contrarian ...

A balance between stability and flexibility: Adaptive patterns of self‐regulated learning processes shape game‐based learning

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract To ensure learning efficiency in game‐based learning (GBL), learners must regulate cognitive, affective, metacognitive and motivational (CAMM) processes, collectively known as self‐regulated learning (SRL). SRL is dynamic and non‐linear, characterized by regulatory patterns and CAMM interactions that lead to macro‐level SRL behaviours. In this

Collective Wage Co‐ordination and the Costs of Job Displacement

open access: yesBritish Journal of Industrial Relations, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates whether a higher level of co‐ordination in collective wage bargaining affects the wage costs of job displacement. We use quasi‐exogenous variation in the timing of job loss due to mass layoffs spanning an institutional reform that introduced national ceilings to wage agreements negotiated at sectoral‐ and firm‐level—the

Calibrating Bayesian inference

open access: yesBritish Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Bayesian statistics has gained popularity in psychological research due to its intuitive uncertainty quantification and convenient information‐updating rules. In many applications, however, prior distributions are introduced merely as instruments to facilitate computation, rather than as representations of genuine subjective belief ...

Basis Networks: Learning basis functions for free‐form triangulations

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present a framework for learning compactly supported basis functions that define tangent continuous surfaces based on coarse irregular triangle meshes. The basis functions are represented as MLPs. Smoothness of the basis functions is achieved by using the values of Loop basis functions as the parameterization of the surface.

Survey on differential estimators for 3d point clouds

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent advancements in 3D scanning technologies, including LiDAR and photogrammetry, have enabled the precise digital replication of real‐world objects. These methods are widely used in fields such as GIS, robotics, and cultural heritage. However, the point clouds generated by such scans are often noisy and unstructured, posing challenges for ...
