Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Bioengineered Lymphatic Vessels in Synthetic Matrices to Study Breast Cancer Cell Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Lymphatic vessels are involved in cancer metastasis. To study the interplay between metastasizing cancer cells and lymphatic vessels under highly reproducible conditions, advanced in vitro models are required. In this work, 3D lymphatic networks are formed in biomimetic hydrogels and their interactions with invasive and non‐invasive cancer cell‐lines ...

Transformative Bioactive Wear Resistant Ti3Au:N and Ti3Au:O Coatings for Medical Implants and Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coatings of titanium‐gold are grown in nitrogen and oxygen environments via magnetron sputtering to simultaneously enhance their biotribological and antibacterial properties. The coatings are highly crystalline with superhard scratch‐resistant surfaces and wear rates 20 times lower than the bare Ti‐6Al‐4V substrate.

Fibrillar Bundles as Fibrous Filler Materials for Attaining Cell Anisotropy in Bioprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fibrillar bundles are introduced as a bioprintable additive that enables robust and scalable cellular alignment within 3D constructs through flow‐induced orientation during extrusion. These fibers support strong cell adhesion and polarization across various cell types and significantly enhance myotube alignment in Gelatine‐Methacryloyl (GelMA ...
