Orthotopic Liver Transplantation in Rats [PDF]
Journal of Visualized Experiments, 2012Clinical progress in the field of liver transplantation has been largely supported by animal models(1,2). Since the publication of the first orthotopic rat liver transplantation in 1979 by Kamada et al.(3), this model has remained the gold standard despite various proposed alternative techniques(4). Nevertheless, its broader use is limited by its steep

Orthotopic liver transplantation for alcoholic cirrhosis [PDF]
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1988Fifteen patients with Laennec's cirrhosis underwent orthotopic liver transplantation between 1963 and the end of 1979. The first eight patients died perioperatively or within two months, but four of the next seven patients had long survival; three are still alive after 11 to 14 years.

Cytomegalovirus infection in orthotopic liver transplantation [PDF]
Transplant International, 1989We retrospectively studied 175 orthotopic liver transplants in 151 patients. Of the 151 patients, 59 (39.1%) were diagnosed as having cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. The rate of infection in patients treated for rejection was 48.8% as compared to 26.2% in patients without rejection (P less than 0.01).

Ultrasound-guided intraoperative inferior vena cava stent implantation for treatment of acute hypotension during orthotopic liver transplantation [PDF]
Journal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2023Severe obstruction of inferior vena cava (IVC) outflow after orthotopic liver transplantation can result in persistent hypotension, leading to transplantation failure and intraoperative circulatory instability and can even threaten the patient's life ...

A TECHNIQUE FOR ORTHOTOPIC LIVER TRANSPLANTATION IN THE RAT
Transplantation, 1973This report describes in detail the technique of orthotopic liver transplantation in syngeneic rats which are relatively inexpensive and readily available. We also report the long-term survival and function of these grafts. The technique involves the use

A Transformer-Based Deep Learning Approach for Fairly Predicting Post-Liver Transplant Risk Factors [PDF]
J Biomed Inform. 2024 Jan;149:104545, 2023Liver transplantation is a life-saving procedure for patients with end-stage liver disease. There are two main challenges in liver transplant: finding the best matching patient for a donor and ensuring transplant equity among different subpopulations. The current MELD scoring system evaluates a patient's mortality risk if not receiving an organ within ...
