INFLUENCE SURFACES FOR ORTHOTROPIC STEEL BRIDGE DECKS.

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers, 1975
An analytical method to produce influence surfaces for stiffened steel bridge decks is described. It uses dynamic relaxation to solve the finite difference form of the orthotropic small deflexion plate equations and employs A variable orthogonal mesh to ensure maximum economy of computer time and storage.

Stress concentration in steel bridge orthotropic decks

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2005
Abstract The structural behaviour of orthotropic steel decks is characterized by the complex interaction between its components (deck plate, ribs and floorbeams) and also by the interaction between the structure, the pavement and the vehicle’s wheels tyres.

A new concept of orthotropic steel bridge deck

Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, 2008
A new concept of orthotropic steel bridge deck is proposed to improve its durability and economy. It is suggested to hot-roll the longitudinal ribs. Thus, the ribs can be made larger and with a more effective cross section that is not possible for cold bent ribs.

Improving the fatigue design of orthotropic steel decks

2018
Orthotropic steel decks (OSDs) consist of a complex network of longitudinal stiffeners, transverse stiffeners and the deck plate itself. Working as a whole, it takes part in the structural working of the overall bridge concept, resulting in an extremely lightweight and durable deck concept.

Wearing Surfaces for Orthotropic Steel Bridge Decks

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 1999
In the state of Alaska, a six-span 884.5-m orthotropic steel bridge crosses the Yukon River at a 6 percent grade. The bridge is on a gravel road, it has a roadway width of 9.2 m, and the orthotropic steel deck is supported by two steel box girders 154.9 cm wide and 414.0 cm deep. The structure is expected to support the oil pipeline, a future gas line,

Fatigue reliability analysis of orthotropic steel deck

2011
Orthotropic steel decks are widely used in bridge decks structure of highway bridges. The results of inspection of orthotropic steel decks show that their fatigue life can be shorter than the one of other elements. According to some research as early as after 25 to 30 years, damage in the form of cracks can be seen in some of the details categories ...

Orthotropic Steel Plates for Bridge Deck Replacement

1990
A large number of our nation's bridges have reached the age where serious deterioration requires replacement of the roadway deck. Where first cost is the determining factor, replacement in kind—usually reinforced concrete—is the normally accepted method.
