Although patterns of tooth wear are crucial in palaeo-reconstructions, and dental wear abnormalities are important in veterinary medicine, experimental investigations on the relationship between diet abrasiveness and tooth wear are rare.

Infanticide in Wild Rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
Journal of Mammalogy, 1992Infant killing in 13 litters of European wild rabbits ( Oryctolagus cuniculus ), born within an enclosed (2.2 ha) population, was recorded. Because interspecific predation can be excluded, female-female competition for a limited number of breeding burrows may have resulted in infanticide.

Extraskeletal fibroblastic osteosarcoma in a rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
Journal of Small Animal Practice, 2001A seven‐year‐old rabbit was presented with a non‐painfui mass in the right upper lip. Tissue samples from the mass at three different stages of the disease process were diagnosed sequentially as an osteogenic sarcoma, a fibroblastic tumour with rudimentary osteoid formation and, lastly, a fibrosarcoma.

Eimeria coecicola: Spleen response of Oryctolagus cuniculus
Experimental Parasitology, 2013The apicomplexan protozoon Eimeria coecicola is an infectious agent of intestinal coccidiosis in rabbits, causing severe injuries in the appendix as the final target, but also in the liver though not being a target. Here, we investigated the effect of E.

Deciduous dentition in the rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
Archives of Oral Biology, 1973Abstract The sequence and chronology of deciduous tooth eruption and exfoliation in the rabbit was studied roentgenographically. In the mandible, two molars are erupted at 25 days gestation age. Root resorption of these teeth is apparent by the 7th postnatal day and both have been exfoliated by the 30th day.

Classical genetic studies in European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) suggested the presence of two alleles at the brown coat colour locus: a wild-type B allele that gives dense black pigment throughout the coat and a recessive b allele that in the ...

Hypersexuality in a castrated rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
Companion Animal, 2011Behavioural changes in rabbits can arise from a variety of medical and psychological causes. It is important to robustly investigate these cases in order to provide specific treatment. In neutered animals a return to sexual behaviour may arise from inadequate surgical neutering, or production of sexual hormones from another source such as ectopic or ...

Endogenous Development of Eimeria intestinalis in Rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
The Journal of Parasitology, 1992The endogenous life cycle of a pure strain of Eimeria intestinalis was studied by light and electron microscopy in coccidia-free rabbits. Four schizont generations could be observed: the first one, not previously described, was seen between 36 and 144 hr postinoculation (PI), the second one between 64 and 168 hr PI, the third one between 96 and 192 hr ...

New data on the proteins of rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) milk
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1995The main rabbit milk proteins have previously been prepared by reversed-phase HPLC of the acid-precipitated material ('whole casein') and of its supernatant (acid whey). Most of them were nearly homogeneous on SDS-PAGE. Among those isolated from whole casein, alpha s1-, beta- and kappa-caseins, as well as whey acidic protein (WAP) were identified by N ...

The primary structure of the myoglobin of rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure, 1976Abstract The amino acid sequence of rabbit myoglobin was determined. It contains 153 amino acid residues and differs in three of them from all known mammalian myoglobins: Ala 5, His 34 and Thr 35.
