Effect of temperature on growth and development of rice weevil [Sitophilus oryzae (L.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)] on polished rice

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Rice weevils (Sitophilus oryzae), a major storage pest, cause both qualitative and quantitative losses of stored grains. Normally, chemical insecticide along with fumigation is practiced for the management, but it creates health hazards. So, this study investigates the effects of temperature and duration of exposure on rice weevils. Completely

Spatial and temporal aggregation of Oryzaephilus surinamensis from Peninsular Malaysia

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2021
The saw-toothed grain beetle, Oryzaephilus surinamensis (Linnaeus) is a secondary pest of rice grains and other stored products. Lack of information on the population abundance, spatial, and temporal distribution of O. surinamensis rendered the management control strategy of this pest species less effective.

Pairing Residual Contact Insecticide Use With Long‐Lasting Insecticide‐Incorporated Netting to Reduce Dispersal and Damage by Stored Product Insects

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 149, Issue 4, Page 501-514, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Long‐lasting insecticide‐incorporated netting (LLIN) can intercept insects and has shown promise for pest management before and after harvest in agriculture. Understanding how to incorporate LLIN into existing integrated pest management (IPM) programs, with other commonly used tactics like residual contact insecticides, can significantly ...
