Scanning electron micrographs of Oryzophagus oryzae (Coleoptera, Curculionidae), plastron structure and swimming behavior

Micron, 2012
The morphological structures that permit Oryzophagus oryzae aquatic activities and swimming behavior were studied and compared with various weevils and other relevant species. The use of scanning electron microscopy facilitated the recognition of three different hydrofuge scales and sensilla.

Cuticular Compounds Recognition and Mating Behavior of the Rice Water Weevil Oryzophagus oryzae (Coleoptera, Curculionidae)

Journal of Insect Behavior, 2013
Oryzophagus oryzae mating behavior and mate recognition were investigated. Bioassays revealed that couples had intense sexual activity in the first 3 h of photophase and scotophase. Adults mated and re-mated at any time of day in the presence of water; however, in the absence of water, only 10 % of adults mated, meaning that water was important for ...

Hibernation dynamics of Oryzophagus oryzae and its implications for management

Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1996
AbstractThe hibernation dynamics of Oryzophagus oryzae (Costa Lima) (Coleoptera, Curculionidae) was studied in a bamboo stand, in Eldorado do Sul district (30° 02′ S, 51° 23′ WGR), RS, Brazil. From February 1990 to February 1991, a total of 12057 insects were sampled in the litter of the study area (80 m × 2 m), following a stratified random sampling ...
