For revision CVJAs with persistent ventral compression after failed posterior fixation, anterior transoral odontoid reduction combined with clivocervical fusion achieved direct decompression, restored clivo‐axial angle, resolved spinal cord compression, and provided stable fusion with significant neurological recovery, offering an effective salvage ...

The management of os odontoideum. Analysis of 37 cases
Thirty-seven patients treated for os odontoideum are reviewed. In 20 patients the treatment was conservative and in 17 consisted of occipitocervical or atlanto-axial fusion.

The C1ZAS with “in–out–in” technique is presented as an alternative to C1 PS in cases of AAD with a trajectory parallel to the sagittal plane. This method involves penetrating the recess of the atlas to achieve tricortical or quadricortical purchase for rigid fixation while minimizing the risk of injury to the V3 segment of the VA.

Analysis of Failed Atlantoaxial Reduction: Causes of Failure and Strategies for Revision
Severe atlantoaxial joint locking or ligament contracting are the fundamental cause of reduction and fixation failure. Anterior odontoidectomy is indicated for patients with robust bony fusion of the atlantoaxial joint in an unreduced position, the PFDF technique indicated for patients with incomplete bony fusion. Objective The craniovertebral junction

Os Odontoideum Mimicking Acute Odontoid Peg Fracture
The atlantoaxial complex is a common site for cervical spine injuries, of which fractures of the axis (C2), occur most frequently. Over half of these fractures involve the odontoid process.

Anatomy and mobility in the adult cadaveric craniocervical junction
The motivation of the present study was to understand the morphological and functional basis of motion in the adult craniocervical junction, in the hope to find morphological features accessible from medical imaging able to predict mobility. We compared a wide range of mobility variables extracted from an experimental setup, with the shape of the ...

Os Odonteideum Kaynaklı Servikal Myelopati: Olgu Sunumu
Literatürde odontoid proçese ait kongenital anomaliler bildirilmiştir. Os odonteideum odontoid proçesin aksisin gövdesinden ayrı bir kemik parça olmasıdır. Odontoid proçesin en sık rastlanan anomalisidir. Servikal instabilite, atlantoaksiyel dislokasyon
