Kansalaiset pienoiskoossa?

open access: yesKasvatus & Aika
Lasten osallisuus näyttäytyy tutkimuksessa päämääränä, jonka toteutuminen vaatii aikuisilta laajaa tietämystä lasten oikeuksista, yhdenvertaisuudesta ja syrjimistä ehkäisevistä käytänteistä, sekä pedagogisista ratkaisuista, jotka tukevat osallisuutta ...

Peptide Arginases from Cryptic Pathways Install Ornithine Residues in Uncharacterized Members of Orphan RiPP Families

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 24, December 11, 2025.
The incorporation of the non‐proteinogenic amino acid ornithine into antibiotic peptides has shown potential in influencing antibacterial efficacy. Novel peptide arginases from cryptic ribosomally synthesized and post‐translationally modified peptide (RiPP) pathways are identified and found to incorporate ornithine residues into various peptide ...

Apathy, depression, and dementia risk in older adults: A global collaborative study

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION The role of apathy in predicting dementia risk, especially with coexisting depression, remains unclear in community‐dwelling older adults. METHODS We analyzed data from 12,646 older adults without baseline dementia across ten population‐based cohorts from six continents (Cohort Studies of Memory in an International Consortium ...

Growth/Differentiation Factor 15 Promotes a Pro‐Regenerative Response in Chondrocytes Upon Cartilage Injury

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 12, December 2025.
After cartilage injury, oxidative stress results in a posttraumatic cell fate decision: Intracellular ROS accumulation initiates a p53‐dependent stress response in chondrocytes, including the transcription of signature genes, such as CDKN1A and GDF15.

Compound Heterozygous Structural Variants in Cases with Unsolved PRKN‐Associated Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, Volume 40, Issue 12, Page 2722-2731, December 2025.
Abstract Background Biallelic mutations in the PRKN gene are a common cause of early‐onset Parkinson's disease (EOPD). In addition to single nucleotide variants, structural variants contribute substantially to the mutational profile of PRKN. A significant portion of patients with EOPD remains genetically unsolved.

Functional Breads Enriched With Amaranth Flour and Grape Pomace Peels: Protein Fraction Bioaccessibility and Antioxidant Properties

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 3, Issue 4, December 2025.
This study examined how amaranth flour (AF) and red grape pomace peels (GP) affect peptide bioaccessibility and antioxidant activity in bread. Simulated digestion revealed that AF and GP influence peptide profiles through protein–phenolic interactions and disulfide bonding, altering solubility and molecular weight distribution.

Evolution in Response to an Abiotic Stress Shapes Species Coexistence

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 28, Issue 12, December 2025.
This study shows that when two spider mite species evolve separately on tomato plants hyperaccumulating cadmium—a stressful environment—their adaptation leads to reduced competition between them and increased intraspecific competition. As a result, instead of one species excluding the other, both can coexist.

The Association Between Nursing Work Environment and Evidence‐Based Practice

open access: yesWorldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing, Volume 22, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Evidence‐based practice (EBP) is essential for improving the quality of care and health outcomes in healthcare organizations. This study aimed to analyze the association between the nursing work environment and EBP elements, including attitude, training, implementation and quality of care.

Monitoring Apoptotic Activity of Silver(I) Metallodrugs Containing Mefenamic Acid and Mitochondriotropic Agents in Artificial Breast Tumor Tissues

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 23, November 28, 2025.
MCF‐7 cancer cell cultures in 2D and 3D systems before and after 48 h of treatment with silver complexes of mefenamic acid. The results highlight the biological effectiveness of these compounds in advanced cellular models. The anticancer potential of silver(I) metallodrugs incorporating mefenamic acid and mitochondriotropic agents in 3D spheroid models

Magnesium‐Doped Coatings as a Suitable Approach to Improve Osseointegration of Titanium‐Based Implants: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analyses of Animal Studies

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 113, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT This review evaluates the effect of magnesium (Mg)‐doped coatings on the osseointegration of titanium (Ti)‐based implants. The recommendations of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses and the PRISMA 2020 Statement were followed, with registration in PROSPERO (CRD42024572571).
