Guanosine‐Quadruplex Hydrogels as Dynamic, Mechanically Tunable and Ion Conductive 3D Scaffolds for Cell Culture Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Versatile guanosine‐quadruplex (GQ) hydrogels are developed as dynamic biomatrices for cell culture. These scaffolds are fabricated under mild aqueous conditions, present improved stability, tunable mechanical properties within physiological ranges; fibrillar, porous microstructure, ion conductivity, and cytocompatibility.

A Falling Fluid Droplet in an Oscillating Flow Field [PDF]

open access: yes
We examine the flow in and around a falling fluid droplet in a vertically oscillating flow. We assume axisymmetric Stokes flow, and for small deformations to the droplet, the governing equations can be linearized leading to an infinite system of linear ...

Molecularly Dissipative Liquid Crystal Elastomer Foams for Impact and Vibration Attenuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid crystal elastomer foams integrate cellular deformation with mesogen reorientation to create a dual‐scale energy dissipation mechanism. Progressive pore collapse absorbs mechanical loads, while stress‐induced mesogen reorientation provides additional damping, resulting in reduced impact transmission and broadband suppression of vibrational ...

Oxygen Evolution Electrocatalysts with Trinuclear, Mixed‐Valence Iron Motifs on Electronically Aligned Carbon Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Trinuclear iron oxo‐bridged catalytic ensembles stabilized by aspartic‐acid‐derived carbon dots provide an effective platform for alkaline oxygen evolution. Mixed‐valence charge balancing, inner‐sphere charge transport, and work‐function alignment within the N/O‐rich carbon framework promote cooperative Fe‐site chemistry and efficient OER ...

Remote Activation of Wnt Signaling and Cell Proliferation by E‐Cadherin Magnetomechanical Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pioneering magnetogenetic toolkit enables non‐invasive, precise spatiotemporal modulation of intracellular Wnt/β‐catenin signaling. Functionalized magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs@E/EC15) target cellular E‐cadherins to generate localized magnetomechanical forces under low‐intensity magnetic fields.

Configuration‐Encoded Cell Alignment by Light‐Gated Silicon Photovoltaic Microcell Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light‐gated silicon photovoltaic microcells convert pulsed illumination into localized electrical cues. Arranging otherwise similar microcells into four‐lobed, six‐lobed, or circular patterns directs fibroblasts into corresponding local arrangements without wired stimulation.

Oscillating and non-oscillating contributions in the Porod law

open access: yes, 1993
Experimental Ih4 plots often show damped oscillating terms. The first non-oscillating term describing the interface curvature effects is given by the Kirste-Porod formula for regular surfaces. It provides a positive h-2 contribution to Ih4.

A Miniaturized Autonomous Thermomagnetic Generator

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Micro, autonomous and high power thermomagnetic generator operating between a heat dissipator and a processor. ABSTRACT Thermomagnetic generators (TMG) are promising devices for converting low‐grade waste heat into electricity. Self‐actuation using permanent magnets is the key to autonomy.

Advanced Theory and Application of the Oscillating Synchronous Electrical Motors

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2000
This paper considers specific problems of the theory and application of oscillating electrical motors. Classification of electrical machines according to temporal and spatial features of mechanical movement is explained to determine the place of ...
