Experimental Investigation of Flat Plate Cryogenic Oscillating Heat Pipe

Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 2019
Recent developments in applications such as high-temperature superconducting magnets, infrared detectors, and electronics components have led to an alarming increase in heat dissipation rate, which now far exceeds the capability of conventional heat pipe cooling systems.

New solutions of the II. Stokes problem for an oscillating flat plate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Mechanica, 1998
We generalize the fluid flow problem of an oscillating flat plate (II. Stokes problem) in two directions. We discuss first the oscillating porous flat plate with superimposed blowing or suction.

Investigation of heat transfer performance using an oscillating vertical flat plate [PDF]

open access: yesProgress in Computational Fluid Dynamics, 2021
In this study, the heat transfer performance of an oscillating vertical flat plate is experimentally and numerically investigated. Rayleigh number (Ra), Womersley number (Wo), and dimensionless oscillation amplitude (Ao) are changed, and the effects of ...

Heat Transport Along an Oscillating Flat Plate

Journal of Heat Transfer, 1988
Several recent papers have examined the transport of heat between a hot and cold fluid reservoir when the two reservoirs are connected to each other by an array of open-ended pipes and when the fluid within these pipes is set into sinusoidal axial oscillations.

Unsteady Aerodynamic Analysis of Oscillating Flat Plates

21st AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Conference, 2003
The fluid propulsion mechanism of two oscillating flat plates is studied numerically using a discrete vortex method. Presently, the flat plates are assumed to be rigid. To analyze the closely coupled aerodynamic interference between the flat plates, a core addition scheme and a vortex core model are combined together.

Unsteady Aerodynamics Analysis of Flat Plates in Pitch Oscillation

Viscous aerodynamic analysis of an oscillating flat-plate airfoil

AIAA Journal, 1989
CONSIDERABLE progress has been made in the prediction of the unsteady aerodynamics of oscillating airfoils. These analyses are typically limited to inviscid potential flows, with the unsteady flow assumed to be a small perturbation to the mean flow and the Kutta condition imposed.

The effect of oscillation on flat plate heat transfer

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1971
The time-mean heat transfer of the incompressible laminar boundary layer on a flat plate under the influence of oscillation is studied analytically. Flow oscillation amplitude outside the boundary layer is assumed constant along the surface and the viscous dissipation effect is considered.

Fluid oscillations in flat plate boiling water collectors

Solar Energy, 1997
Abstract Boiling water collectors with an internal two-phase thermosiphon and buoyancy driven circulation are apt for process steam generation in the temperature range 70–150°C. Exploiting the advantages of boiling heat transfer requires mastering the instabilities of two-phase flow natural convection.

Thrust efficiency of harmonically oscillating flexible flat plates

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2011
We consider the efficiency of thrust-producing inextensible membranes with variable bending rigidities. The present study is a numerical investigation of the thrust generation and flow-field characteristics of a two-dimensional flapping flexible membrane, fixed at its leading edge.
