Plate oscillations with mixed boundary conditions

Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii. Matematika, 2023
The problem with initial conditions for the equation of vibrations of a rectangular plate with mixed boundary conditions was examined by the author of this study. It is determined that there is an energy inequality, which implies that the solution to the given initial-boundary problem is unique.

Thickness Oscillations in Deformed Elastic Plate

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1979
The theory of elastic waves superposed on finite deformation is applied to the study of thickness oscillations in a deformed elastic plate. Perturbation scheme, based on multiple scales, is employed to obtain a set of governing equations for the amplitudes of transverse thickness oscillations which are perpendicularly polarized with each other.

The planar jet-plate oscillator

Journal of Fluids and Structures, 2011
The aeroacoustic noise generated by a high speed, planar gas jet impinging on a flat plate is investigated experimentally. The jet used in this study is typical of those commonly found in industrial applications such as in various coating control and heat transfer processes. Normal jet impingement on the plate is found to generate strong acoustic tones

Fluid Suspensions: Flow Near an Oscillating Plate

Transactions of the Society of Rheology, 1970
The problem of an infinite plate oscillating harmonically in an infinite fluid with rigid, spherical substructure is considered. Expressions are obtained for the fluid velocity and substructure spin. The limiting cases of dilute and concentrated suspensions of rigid spheres are examined and estimates made of the depth of penetration of viscous effects.

Wave Attenuation by Submerged Oscillating Plates

Volume 5: Ocean Engineering, 2023
Abstract Submerged oscillating plates are used as heaving plates to reduce the motion of floating objects, in wave energy devices to extract the wave energy, and as breakwaters to attenuate the wave field in shallow water. In this study, we consider a horizontal, submerged plate in shallow water that is allowed to oscillate in the ...

Nonlinear Forced Vibrations of Plates with Oscillating Inclusions

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2022
These studies focus on the forced vibrations of rectangular plates incorporating oscillating inclusions uniformly distributed in the carrier elastic medium. Plate’s equations of motion consist of the Lamé equation for a carrier material and the equation for oscillators representing the inclusions.

4He Crystals on an Oscillating Plate

Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 2013
Shape and motion of 4He crystals in superfluid placed on a transversely oscillating plate were investigated visually. The plate was glued onto a piezo post which was driven in a shear mode electrically. The purpose of the experiment was to drive a 4He crystal by a piezoelectric device which can be used to drive ordinary solids by the inchworm method ...
