Paternal Circadian Disruption Impairs Offspring Cognition via Sperm microRNAs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Paternal circadian disruption remodels the sperm small RNA payload, elevating miR‐92a‐3p/miR‐25‐3p levels and perturbing early embryonic gene regulatory programs. Microinjection experiments and single‐embryo transcriptomics reveal sex‐specific developmental vulnerabilities, ultimately impairing offspring hippocampal synaptic plasticity and cognition ...

Oscillating water column supporting structures: A review

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series
Abstract Numerous studies on the potential for wave energy in Indonesian waters have been conducted using Wave Energy Converter (WEC). One of the most extensively studied and developed wave energy conversion technologies is the Oscillating Water Column (OWC).

Solitary vortex couples in viscoelastic Couette flow

open access: yes, 1996
We report experimental observation of a localized structure, which is of a new type for dissipative systems. It appears as a solitary vortex couple ("diwhirl") in Couette flow with highly elastic polymer solutions.

Columnar structure formation of a dilute suspension of settling spherical particles in a quiescent fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The settling of heavy spherical particles in a column of quiescent fluid is investigated. The performed experiments cover a range of Galileo numbers ($110 \leq \text{Ga} \leq 310$) for a fixed density ratio of $\Gamma = \rho_p/\rho_f = 2.5$.

Performance improvement of a full-scale oscillating water column device by employing a novel double oscillating water column

open access: yesProceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part M: Journal of Engineering for the Maritime Environment
The energy present in the ocean surface waves can be extracted using an oscillating water column (OWC) device. In the present work, the performance characteristics of a normal OWC, an opposite OWC and a novel double OWC employing Savonius rotors are investigated at different sea states in a numerical wave tank (NWT) using the computational fluid ...

Myeloid‐Derived Grancalcin Promotes Periodontal Inflammation and Pathological Bone Remodeling in Periodontitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Grancalcin (GCA), a myeloid‐derived protein, is enriched in gingival tissues of periodontitis patients and mouse models. Through interactions with CD44 and activation of MYH9, GCA promotes NF‐κB signaling and exacerbates periodontal inflammation and bone loss.

Hydrodynamic analysis of a dual chamber floating oscillating water column device

open access: yesApplied Ocean Research
Enhancements to the hydrodynamic effectiveness of oscillating water columns (OWC) have the potential to impact their absorption of wave power and enhance their efficiency.

Non-linear effects on Turing patterns: time oscillations and chaos. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We show that a model reaction-diffusion system with two species in a monostable regime and over a large region of parameter space, produces Turing patterns coexisting with a limit cycle which cannot be discerned from the linear analysis. As a consequence,

Endogenous Ceramide 24:1 Constrains Th17‐Driven Neutrophilic Inflammation by Antagonizing EP2 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cer24:1 levels are reduced in neutrophilic asthma and inversely correlate with disease severity and airway neutrophilia. Restoring Cer24:1 suppresses pathogenic Th17 differentiation by engaging EP2 on CD4+ T cells, thereby dampening the JAK2–STAT3–RORγt axis and reducing IL‐17 production.
