On the oscillation of species [PDF]
We describe a new class of BPS objects called magnetubes: their supersymmetry is determined by their magnetic charges, while their electric charges can oscillate freely between different species. We show how to incorporate these objects into microstate geometries and create BPS solutions in which the charge densities rotate through different U(1 ...

In the last decades, a very important breakthrough has been brought about in the elementary particle physics by the discovery of the phenomenon of the neutrino oscillations, which has shown neutrino properties beyond the Standard Model. But a full understanding of the various aspects of the neutrino oscillations is far to be achieved. In this paper the

Prominences are intriguing, but poorly understood, magnetic structures of the solar corona. The dynamics of solar prominences has been the subject of a large number of studies, and of particular interest is the study of prominence oscillations. Ground- and space-based observations have confirmed the presence of oscillatory motions in prominences and ...

Oscillation and Oscillating Structures in Syntax
SummaryLinguistic expressions are very often indeterminate and have several possible readings. Syntactic indeterminacy may result from different underlying structures, from polysemous elements, or from so-called oscillation. Unlike the former two, oscillation cannot be reduced to one or more discrete interpretations in a given context, it is ...

The inverted harmonic oscillator problem is investigated quantum mechanically. The exact wave function for the confined inverted oscillator is obtained and it is shown that the associated energy eigenvalues are discrete and it is given as a linear function of the quantum number $n$.

Asymptotic Properties of Neutral Differential Equations with Variable Coefficients
The aim of this work is to study oscillatory behavior of solutions for even-order neutral nonlinear differential equations. By using the Riccati substitution, a new oscillation conditions is obtained which insures that all solutions to the studied ...

Control of Oscillation Patterns in a Symmetric Coupled Biological Oscillator System [PDF]
A chain of three-oscillator system was constructed with living biological oscillators of phasmodial slime mold, Physarum polycehalum and the oscillation patterns were analyzed by the symmetric Hopf bifurcation theory using group theory.

Oscillation criteria for even order neutral difference equations [PDF]
In this paper, we present some new sufficient conditions for oscillation of even order nonlinear neutral difference equation of the form \[\Delta^m(x_n+ax_{n-\tau_1}+bx_{n+\tau_2})+p_nx_{n-\sigma_1}^{\alpha}+q_nx_{n+\sigma_2}^{\beta}=0,\quad n\geq n_0 ...

A numerical study of an inline oscillating cylinder in a free stream [PDF]
Simulations of a cylinder undergoing externally controlled sinusoidal oscillations in the free stream direction have been performed. The frequency of oscillation was kept equal to the vortex shedding frequency from a fixed cylinder, while the amplitude ...
