Forced oscillation source location in power systems using system dissipating energy
A dissipating energy-based technique is proposed to locate the source of forced oscillations (FOs) in power systems. The network and load information is incorporated into the developed algorithm and continuously updated using supervisory control and data

Zonal shift in the cold airmass stream of the East Asian winter monsoon
The East Asian winter monsoon (EAWM) exhibits long-term variations in intensity and spatial pattern, though the latter one is less understood. To investigate the long-term spatial variations of the EAWM and their possible causes, we propose a new ...

Numerical Simulation of a Pitching Airfoil Under Dynamic Stall of Low Reynolds Number Flow [PDF]
In this research, viscous, unsteady and turbulent fluid flow is simulated numerically around pitching NACA0012 airfoil in the dynamic stall area. The Navier-Stokes equations are discretized based on the finite volume method and are solved by the PIMPLE ...

Measurement-based solution for low frequency oscillation analysis
This paper presents a measurement-based solution for low frequency oscillation (LFO) analysis in both real time monitoring and off-line case study. An online LFO property discrimination method is developed first, which alternately uses empirical mode ...

A Two-Level Forced Oscillations Source Location Method Based on Phasor and Energy Analysis
Forced oscillations (FOs), which are caused by sustained cyclic disturbances, threaten the safe and stable operation of power system. The most effective way to eliminate FOs is to locate the oscillation source and take corresponding measures.

The teleconnection of extreme El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events to the tropical North Atlantic in coupled climate models [PDF]
El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is a major source for teleconnections, including towards the tropical North Atlantic (TNA) region, whereby TNA sea surface temperatures (SSTs) are positively correlated with ENSO in boreal spring following an ENSO ...

The location of the source of high-frequency solar acoustic oscillations
Recently Libbrecht and Jefferies et al. have reported regular peaks in the solar oscillation power spectrum extending well above 5.3 mHz, the maximum frequency of trapped acoustic modes. Kumar et al. argued that these peaks are primarily due to the interference of traveling waves which are excited due to acoustic emission from turbulent convection.

DETERMINATION OF COORDINATES OF SEISMIC WAVE SOURCE BY AMPLITUDE METHOD OF PASSIVE LOCATION
The paper presents results of the mathematical synthesis of the method of passive location of a seismic wave source. The method employs measurements of regular attenuation of seismic oscillation amplitudes.
