Bistable Oscillator Theory Revisited
International Applied Mechanics, 2002The authors discuss dynamics of a bistable oscillator. Boundaries of motion manifolds are constructed which correspond to three different types of regular trajectories.

Theory of Mitotic Spindle Oscillations
Physical Review Letters, 2005During unequal cell division the mitotic spindle is positioned away from the center of the cell before cell cleavage. In many biological systems this repositioning is accompanied by oscillatory movements of the spindle. We present a theoretical description for mitotic spindle oscillations.

The author uses a version of Gårding's inequality to obtain a (nodally oscillatory) comparison theorem which can then be used to extend his earlier non-oscillation theorems [the author, Math. Nachr. 141, 289- 297 (1989; Zbl 0682.35008)] to the equation \[ \sum_{|\alpha|,|\beta|=0}^ m(- 1)^{|\alpha|}D^ \alpha [A_{\alpha\beta}(x)D^ \beta u]=0, \] where \(

AbstractIn the first section of this paper we extend an interesting result due to Nehari and develop some related ideas. The remainder of the paper has principally to do with sufficient conditions for oscillation of solutions of differential equations of the form y'' + p(x) y = 0, where p(x) is at least piecewise continuous on I: (a, ∞) and changes ...

Given \(A(z)\) entire, it is well known that all solutions of \[ y^{(k)}+A(z)y=0 \] are entire functions. The main result in the present paper is the following theorem: Suppose \(\rho(A)
