Quantum oscillations from Fermi arcs
When a metal is subjected to strong magnetic field B nearly all measurable quantities exhibit oscillations periodic in 1/B. Such quantum oscillations represent a canonical probe of the defining aspect of a metal, its Fermi surface (FS).

A Covariant Feynman Path Amplitude Calculation of Neutrino and Muon Oscillations [PDF]
Predictions are presented for the oscillation phase in neutrino oscillations following pion decay at rest and in flight, muon decay and nuclear $\beta-$decay at rest as well as for muon oscillations following pion decay at rest and in flight. The neutrino oscillation phases found disagree with the conventionally used value: $\phi_{12} = \Delta m^2 L ...

This study uses real‐time laser diffraction image analysis to quantify fiber diameter changes and whipping behavior from the nozzle to the collector under varying electric field conditions. By capturing diffraction (scattering) intensity changes and bending angles, melt jet and whipping behavior are accurately assessed, supporting melt electrospinning ...

A model for the onset of oscillations near the stopping angle in an inclined granular flow
We propose an explanation for the onset of oscillations seen in numerical simulations of dense, inclined flows of inelastic, frictional spheres. It is based on a phase transition between disordered and ordered collisional states that may be interrupted ...

Decoherence of Quantum Damped Oscillators [PDF]
Quantum dissipation is studied within two model oscillators, the Caldirola-Kanai (CK) oscillator as an open system with one degree of freedom and the Bateman-Feshbach-Tikochinsky (BFT) oscillator as a closed system with two degrees of freedom. Though these oscillators describe the same classical damped motion, the CK oscillator retains the quantum ...

Comparative Study of Experimental Methods for Measuring Thermal Properties of 100Cr6 Steel Powders
This study investigates the thermal properties of 100Cr6 steel in both bulk and powder forms. Measuring the very low thermal conductivity typically exhibited by powders poses significant challenges. To address this, two novel measurement techniques—temperature gradient and finite laser pulse response—are introduced and evaluated by comparison with the ...

Forced Oscillations in Fluid Tori and Quasi-Periodic Oscillations
The kilo-Hertz Quasi--Periodic Oscillations in X-ray binaries could originate within the accretion flow, and be a signature of non--linear fluid oscillations and mode coupling in strong gravity.

Ultrahigh Piezoelectricity in Truss‐Based Ferroelectric Ceramics Metamaterials
By leveraging the unique combination of polarization direction and loading state, ultrahigh piezoelectricity is achieved through careful tuning of the relative density and scaling ratio in truss‐based ferroelectric metamaterials. This approach enables the simultaneous realization of extremely high piezoelectric constants and ultralow dielectric ...

Spurious oscillations in IMPATT oscillators
Incorrect circuit design of cavity-controlled IMPATT oscillators may cause low-frequency instabilities and frequency jumping, which are simply avoidable. A simple technique for identifying the avalanche resonance frequency of packaged IMPATT oscillators is also described.
