Forced oscillations in oscillator circuits, and the synchronization of oscillators

Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers - Part III: Radio and Communication Engineering, 1945
The behaviour of a feedback oscillator circuit under the influence of an injected tone having a frequency close to the natural frequency of oscillation is considered from the point of view of the steady-state equilibrium of the loop transmission circuit.

Simultaneous Oscillations in Oscillators

Transactions of the IRE Professional Group on Circuit Theory, 1954
An oscillator with two degrees of freedom can, under certain conditions, oscillate simultaneously at two different frequencies. The ratio of the two frequencies may be rational (synchronous oscillations) or irrational (asynchronous oscillations). The conditions necessary for 'simultaneous oscillations are discussed for these two cases.

Oscillating electrolytes

ELECTROPHORESIS, 2006
AbstractChemical oscillations are driven by the gradient of the chemical potential so that they can appear in systems where the substances are not in chemical equilibrium. We show that under the influence of the electric field, concentrations of electrically charged substances in solutions can oscillate even if the system is in chemical equilibrium ...

Neutrino oscillations

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2002
The wave theory of light, and in particular the principle of interference, was formulated by Thomas Young in 1801. In the 20th century, the principle of interference was extended to the quantum mechanical wave functions describing matter. The phenomenon of quantum mechanical interference of different neutrino states, neutrino oscillations, has provided

Calcium Oscillations

2004
Cellular signaling mechanisms are designed to transmit information from the cell surface to specific targets within the cell. Usually, the information is transmitted by intracellular messengers, of which the calcium ion, Ca2+, is one of the most important.

Approximation and Oscillations

1993
Let Ω be a polygonal domain of R n with boundary Г, n≥1. We choose Ω polygonal for the simplicity of the numerical analysis. Let φ: R n → R be a Borel function such that there exist distinct W i ’s such that $$\varphi \left( {{\operatorname{W} _i}} \right) = 0\forall i = 1, \ldots ,k,\varphi \left( \operatorname{W} \right) > 0\forall W \ne {W_i},i =

Oscillations of Quasars

Science, 1964
Rotation in addition to free gravitational motion can produce oscillations in a large spherical mass of gas. The theory may provide an explanation of the variations of brightness in such objects as 3C273.
