Turbulent flow modeling in continuous oscillatory flow baffled reactor using STAR CCM
2019A detailed transient tridimensional CFD model of the turbulent flow of liquid phase inside of 26 mm diameter continuous oscillatory baffled reactor (COBR) was developed using STAR CCM+ software. The model considered a large number of COBR cavities separated with single-orifice baffles.

Optimization of design and operational parameters of continuous oscillatory baffled reactors
Journal of Advanced Manufacturing and ProcessingAbstractOscillatory baffled reactors have obtained increasing popularity over the last decades, due to their high mixing efficiency at low flow rates. Several studies were performed on the optimization of geometrical and operational parameters. Yet, a full overview about the interactions in between those parameters is still missing, which can be ...

Liquid–Liquid Mass Transfer in an Oscillatory-Flow Mesoscale Coil Reactor without Baffles
Organic Process Research & Development, 2016Interphase mass transfer rates of an immiscible liquid–liquid system are investigated in an oscillatory-flow coil reactor without baffles. A baffle-less system is chosen since much research has been completed in baffled tubes with little performance comparison to baffle-less tubes, which offer lower operating and capital costs.

Design and simulations of a helical oscillatory baffled reactor for biochemical reactions
Chemical Engineering and Processing - Process IntensificationA helical oscillatory flow reactor with orifice baffles (HOBR) is proposed for use in slow biochemical and pharmaceutical processes. The new reactor geometry with 10 mm diameter was analyzed using the dynamic 3D CFD model and pulse tracer experiments in a 3D printed prototype, for a range of oscillatory and non-oscillatory flowrates (Reo = 25 – 300 and

Modeling and experimental study on a photochemical microscale continuous oscillatory baffled reactor
AIChE JournalAbstractHerein, the first photochemical microscale continuous oscillatory baffled reactor, that is, Photo‐μCOBR, was designed and evaluated. Computational fluid dynamics simulations were used to optimize the key structural parameter and operating conditions.
