Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

Unsteady transonic small disturbance theory with strong shock waves [PDF]

open access: yes
A theory to correct the transonic small disturbance (TSD) equation to treat strong shock waves in unsteady flow is developed. The technique involves the addition of higher order terms, which are formally of negligible magnitude, to the low frequency TSD ...

Self-sustained hydrodynamic oscillations in a natural-circulation two-phase-flow boiling loop [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Results of an experimental and theoretical study of factors affecting self-sustaining hydrodynamic oscillations in boiling-water loops are reported.

Does the butterfly diagram indicate asolar flux-transport dynamo?

open access: yes, 2004
We address the question whether the properties of the observed latitude-time diagram of sunspot occurence (the butterfly diagram) provide evidence for the operation of a flux-transport dynamo, which explains the migration of the sunspot zones and the ...

3D‐Printed Porous Hydroxyapatite Formed via Enzymatic Mineralization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bone combines lightness, strength, and the ability to heal, inspiring new materials design. This work introduces a room‐temperature, enzyme‐mediated 3D printing method to create porous hydroxyapatite scaffolds. The process avoids energy‐intensive sintering, preserves bioactivity, and allows control over porosity and mineralization.

Numerical simulation of scour around circular piles due to unsteady currents and oscillatory flows

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2018
Numerical modeling of pile scour is performed due to the action of unsteady currents and oscillatory flow greens, using 3D Reynolds averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations for the hydrodynamic description and the Exner equation for the morphological ...

Numerical calculations of pressure oscillations in a side-dump ramjet engine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Pressure oscillations in a side-dump ramjet engine have been studied, using a one-dimensional numerical analysis. The engine is treated in two parts; the inlet section, including a region of two-phase flow downstream of fuel injection, and a dump ...

Magnetism and Nonlinear Charge Transport in NiFe2O4/γ‐Al2O3/SrTiO3 Heterostructure: Toward Spintronic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this report, we demonstrate that a crystalline phase of 52nm thick NiFe2O4 can be grown by RF sputtering on top of γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 at a significantly low temperature (150 °C) without compromising the mobility and carrier density of the 2D electron gas at the γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 interface.
