Unveiling Turbulent Flow Dynamics in Blind-Tee Pipelines: Enhancing Fluid Mixing in Subsea Pipeline Systems

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Blind tees, as important junctions, are widely used in offshore oil and gas transportation systems to improve mixing flow conditions and measurement accuracies in curved pipes.

Petrology of volcanic rocks from Khan- Ghohestan area (Northeast of Birjand, East of Iran) [PDF]

open access: yesپترولوژی, 2018
The Tertiary volcanic rocks in the Khan area have vast outcrops and alternatively include of lava and pyroclastic rocks. The composition of most lavas are dacite, andesite and basaltic trachyandsite with medium potassium calc-alkaline nature.

3D LBM NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF MIXED SAND SORTING UNDER OSCILLATORY FLOWS AND PROGRESSIVE WAVES [PDF]

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 2014
A 3D numerical model based on Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) has been developed to investigate the particle behavior of mixed-grain-size sediments under oscillatory flows and progressive waves. The model considers both particle-particle interaction and particle-fluid interaction with free surface flow and SGS turbulence model.

Influence of the Dufour effect on convection in binary gas mixtures

open access: yes, 1995
Linear and nonlinear properties of convection in binary fluid layers heated from below are investigated, in particular for gas parameters. A Galerkin approximation for realistic boundary conditions that describes stationary and oscillatory convection in ...

Modes of Growth in Dynamic Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Regardless of a system's complexity or scale, its growth can be considered to be a spontaneous thermodynamic response to a local convergence of down-gradient material flows.

Geometry‐Dependent Adhesion in Transparent Monodomain Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid Crystal Elastomers (LCEs) are emerging as exciting pressure‐sensitive adhesives. We examine adhesion in chemically identical elastomer films, exploring the influence of geometry (director orientation) and phase (nematic or isotropic). We demonstrate the potential of these aligned films as transparent, tunable, broad‐temperature‐range smart ...

Effects of Mixing and Large-Amplitude Oscillatory Shear Deformations on Microstructural Properties of Gliadin and Glutenin as Captured by Stop-Flow Frequency Sweeps in Small-Amplitude Oscillatory Shear

open access: yesFoods
Gliadin and glutenin extracted from vital wheat gluten were studied using Large Amplitude Oscillatory Shear (LAOS) followed by stop-flow frequency sweep tests after being subjected to short (4 min) and prolonged (60 min) mixing times. The LAOS tests were

An Experimental Investigation into the Scale-up of Oscillatory Flow Mixing in Baffled Tubes [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Engineering Research and Design, 2006
This paper describes results from an experimental investigation into the scale-up of oscillatory flow mixing (OFM) in geometrically scaled baffled tubes ranging from 24 mm to 150 mm diameter and from 1 m to 4.5 m in length. Measured axial dispersion coefficients are reported together with case studies and an empirical correlation.

Role of Histidine‐Containing Peptoids in Accelerating the Kinetics of Calcite Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic histidine‐containing peptoids mimic carbonic anhydrase (CA) to accelerate calcite step growth. In the presence of Zn2+, they promote the deprotonation of HCO3−, the desolvation of Ca2+, and the reorganization of interfacial hydration layers, thereby reducing the activation barrier for calcite growth.

Roll convection of binary fluid mixtures in porous media

open access: yes, 2009
We investigate theoretically the nonlinear state of ideal straight rolls in the Rayleigh-B\'enard system of a fluid layer heated from below with a porous medium using a Galerkin method. Applying the Oberbeck-Boussinesq approximation, binary mixtures with
