Entropy‐Stabilized Pd/HEO Bifunctional Catalyst for Selective Aqueous‐Phase Hydrogenolysis of Cellulose to Ethylene Glycol

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
An entropy‐stabilized Pd/HEO catalyst integrates Lewis acid and hydrogenation sites within a robust oxide–metal interface, enabling efficient and selective conversion of cellulose to ethylene glycol (68.3%) in water. ABSTRACT The selective conversion of cellulose into ethylene glycol (EG) under aqueous conditions is an attractive yet challenging route ...

Experimental Factors and Techniques for Pool Boiling Heat Transfer Enhancement: A Critical Review

open access: yesHeat Transfer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review presents a comprehensive assessment of active strategies for enhancing pool boiling heat transfer, with a focus on techniques that do not rely solely on the boiling surface modification. It examines a broad range of methodologies including fluid additives, external fields, mechanical interventions, and thermal‐geometric tuning that

Biochar‐Induced Shifts in Fungal Community Structure and Their Association With Soil Physical Properties in Degraded Soil From the Brazilian Semiarid

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Soil degradation compromises ecosystem functioning. Biochar, a carbon‐rich amendment, has gained attention as a promising strategy to enhance soil structure and restore microbial balance. This study investigated the effects of two biochars, cashew bagasse biochar (CBB) and a co‐pyrolyzed biochar produced from sewage sludge and cashew pruning ...

Mechanisms of Laser Ablation in Liquids and Their Impact on the Efficiency of Nanoparticle Generation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Laser ablation in liquid enables nanoparticle synthesis from diverse materials but remains less energy‐efficient than ablation in air. This study quantifies the absorption‐corrected ablation efficiency and experimentally confirms redeposition as the key loss mechanism using pump‐probe microscopy.

Stimuli‐Responsive 3D‐Printed Structurally Colored Materials Based on Core–Shell Particle Architectures

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
A novel, structurally colored and pH‐responsive filament for FDM 3D‐printing is presented, which is based on tailored core–shell particles with methacrylic acid as a comonomer in the particle shell. The pH‐responsiveness of the printed objects is achieved due to particle swelling in alkaline conditions.

Characterization of Fuel Rods Supported by Dimple‐Less Spacer Grids and Subjected to Nonlinear Vibrations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT An experimental campaign was undertaken to demonstrate the applicability of the Bouc–Wen hysteretic model to describe the hysteretic system of the recent Framatome dimple‐less spacer grid design for Pressurized Water Reactors. The experimental setup subjected a reduced‐length fuel rod, supported at both ends by dimple‐less grids, to forced ...

Gas check prevention during calendering of poly(vinyl chloride) films using poly(caprolactone)‐based additives

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, Volume 31, Issue 2, Page 441-452, March 2025.
Three poly(caprolactone) (PCL)‐based additives of differing molecular weights were used as a secondary plasticizer to prevent gas checks in PVC films produced through calendering. Results showed that chemical and physicochemical properties influence the prevention or reduction of gas checks, unlike rheological properties including complex viscosity and
