The Effects of Preheating of a Fine Tungsten Wire and the Polarity of a High-Voltage Electrode on the Energy Characteristics of an Electrically Exploded Wire in Vacuum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Results obtained from experimental and numerical studies of tungsten wires electrical explosion in vacuum are presented. The experiments were performed both with and without preheating of the wires, using positive or negative polarity of a high-voltage ...

Rainfall and Temperature Explain Colony Variation in Echolocation Calls of the Intermediate Horseshoe Bats (Rhinolophus affinis)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
We investigated how environmental factors and body size drive colony‐level variation in echolocation calls of Rhinolophus affinis at a landscape level. Our analyses revealed a positive correlation between monthly mean precipitation and peak frequency of echolocation calls in males.

Impact of noise on the behaviour and biochemical parameters of the crayfish Cherax quadricarinatus and Cherax destructor

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 328, Issue 2, Page 146-164, February 2026.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of acoustic stimulus on the behavioural and biochemical responses of two species of crayfish, Cherax destructor and Cherax quadricarinatus. Our results showed that exposure to noise significantly affects in both species motility parameters, agonistic interactions and acoustic signals emitted. In terms of

Observation of superluminal geometrical resonances in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x intrinsic Josephson junctions

open access: yes, 2010
We study Fiske steps in small Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x mesa structures, containing only few stacked intrinsic Josephson junctions. Careful alignment of magnetic field prevents penetration of Abrikosov vortices and facilitates observation of a large variety of ...

Full-field implementation of a perfect eavesdropper on a quantum cryptography system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Quantum key distribution (QKD) allows two remote parties to grow a shared secret key. Its security is founded on the principles of quantum mechanics, but in reality it significantly relies on the physical implementation.

Vocalizations Reveal Species Differences in Endangered Lion Tamarins (Primates, Callitrichidae)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Primatology, Volume 88, Issue 1, January 2026.
Spectral parameters of vocalizations distinguish lion tamarin species. Peak frequency, center frequency, and frequency at 5% and 95% were the most informative measures for separating species, with the trill being the vocalization that showed the most differences, and Leontopithecus caissara being the most distinct species of all.

Studies of the Fractional Selkov Dynamical System for Describing the Self-Oscillatory Regime of Microseisms

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
A non-linear fractional Selkov dynamic system for mathematical modeling of microseismic phenomena is proposed. This system is a generalization of the previously known Selkov system, which has self-oscillatory modes and is used in biology to describe ...

Solution‐Processed Magnesium Oxide Buffer Layer for Improved Stability of CsPbI2Br Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 10, Issue 1, January 2026.
An interfacial engineering strategy incorporating magnesium oxide (MgO) between the ZnO electron transport layer and CsPbI2Br is demonstrated. This approach yields perovskite solar cells with improved film morphology, charge mobility, and stability. Proton‐irradiated MgO‐incorporated devices retain their performance after 11 weeks, whereas the control ...

Analysis of the Characteristics in Wide‐Input High Step‐Up LLC Resonant Converter

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper analyze the characteristics in wide‐input high step‐up LLC resonant converter. More accurate model is built based on the classical FHA method to improve its practical utilization, reanalyzes the operating characteristics combined with the time domain analysis, proposes the resonant power analysis.
