Bobbing Oscillopsia from Gentamicin Toxicity
British Journal of Audiology, 1982A series of 15 patients had been studied, all of whom suffered severe labyrinthine damage from gentamicin. All subjects were patients in a renal unit and had been in renal failure. The antibiotic was administered, either intramuscularly, intravenously or into the dialysate.

Pedunculopontine nucleus stimulation induces monocular oscillopsia
Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry, 2009Two patients with Parkinson's disease with pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN) stimulation for gait impairments reported "trembling vision" during the setting of the electrical parameters, although there was no clinically observable abnormal eye movement. Oculomotor recordings revealed frequency locked voltage dependent vertical or oblique movements of the ...

A symptom which appears not to have been previously described was observed in a recent study of sixty-two cases of multiple sclerosis. 1 It is common in multiple sclerosis, and yet the first person in whom it was noted and who came to autopsy did not have multiple sclerosis but another disease.

Voluntary Nystagmus Associated With Oscillopsia
Archives of Neurology, 1966IN THE course of a routine neurological examination, we encountered a patient with voluntary nystagmus associated with oscillopsia. The fact that each phenomenon has been rarely encountered and the association of the two is even more unusual has prompted this communication.

Oscillopsia after Lateral Wall Orbital Decompression
Ophthalmology, 2013To assess the incidence, duration, and severity of oscillopsia after lateral wall orbital decompression for thyroid eye disease.Retrospective telephone interview.A consecutive group of patients who had undergone lateral wall orbital decompression for thyroid eye disease performed by 2 consultants at Moorfields Eye Hospital between January 2008 and ...

[Oscillopsia: pathophysiological mechanisms and treatment].
Revue neurologique, 2007Oscillopsia is an illusion of an unstable visual world. It is associated with poor visual acuity and is a disabling and stressful symptom reported by numerous patients with neurological disorders. The goal of this paper is to review the physiology of the systems subserving stable vision, the various pathophysiological mechanisms of oscillopsia and the ...

Pharmacology of vertigo/nystagmus/oscillopsia
Current Opinion in Neurology, 2005To describe recent developments in the pharmacological treatment of vertigo and nystagmus while focusing on vestibular neuritis, Meniere's disease, downbeat nystagmus, periodic alternating nystagmus, acquired pendular nystagmus, and superior oblique myokymia. In the last 2 years several studies have been published on possible pharmacological treatment ...

A clinical bedside test for oscillopsia is described for patients suffering from an acute deficiency of compensatory eye movements due either to inappropriate pursuit eye movements or a defective vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR). This test involves quantitative measurement of the amplitude of apparent image motion (oscillopsia) during head oscillations ...

Radiation-induced oscillopsia in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients
International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 2005To apply a battery of audiovestibular function tests and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to investigate the causes of oscillopsia in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients after irradiation (RT).Of 300 NPC patients, 12 (4%) developed oscillopsia after RT. The mean accumulated radiation dose to the nasopharynx was 112 +/- 30 Gy. Each patient underwent

Oscillopsia Associated with Dysfunction of Visual Cortex
Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, 2004To investigate the cause of oscillopsia without nystagmus or vestibular dysfunction in a 31-year-old man with no past history of serious illness. The changes in the regional cerebral blood flow elicited by visual stimuli were studied by positron emission tomography (PET) in the patient and were compared with changes in normal subjects.
