Primary Sweat Gland Adenocarcinoma of the Skin With ATL2::PRKD3 Fusion: A Potential Cutaneous Analog of Cribriform Adenocarcinoma of the Salivary Glands? [PDF]

open access: yesGenes Chromosomes Cancer
ABSTRACT Many cutaneous adnexal tumors share molecular alterations with other homologous neoplasms occurring in salivary glands. Polymorphous adenocarcinoma (PAC) is a rare salivary gland tumor, usually associated with alterations in the PRKD gene family.

Primary cutaneous NUT adnexal carcinoma: morphologic, genetic and methylation analysis of seven new cases with comparison to extracutaneous NUT carcinoma and NUTM1-rearranged porocarcinoma. [PDF]

open access: yesHistopathology
Microscopic features of a NUTM1 adnexal carcinoma magnification. This neoplasm consisted of large, poorly demarcated tumors, sometimes ulcerated infiltrated the dermis and subcutaneous tissue (HPS ×10). The lesions were organized in strands, cords and larger solid nests of poorly differentiated cells characterized by enlarged, irregular nuclei (HPS ×20)

Microsecretory adenocarcinoma of the skin, a novel type of sweat gland carcinoma: Report of three additional cases

open access: yesJournal of Cutaneous Pathology, Volume 50, Issue 10, Page 897-902, October 2023., 2023
Abstract Microsecretory adenocarcinoma (MSA) is a newly described salivary gland tumor harboring a characteristic balanced chromosomal translocation resulting in MEF2C::SS18 gene fusion. Six primary cutaneous MSA cases have been recently described. We report three additional cases confirming the relevance of this recently identified entity of primary ...

Amorphization induced by pressure: results for zeolites and general implications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We report an {\sl ab initio} study of pressure-induced amorphization (PIA) in zeolites, which are model systems for this phenomenon. We confirm the occurrence of low-density amorphous phases like the one reported by Greaves {\sl et al.} [Science {\bf 308}

Diagnostic yield and clinical impact of chromosomal microarray analysis in autism spectrum disorder

open access: yesMolecular Genetics &Genomic Medicine, Volume 11, Issue 8, August 2023., 2023
The diagnostic yield of array‐CGH in ASD is quite satisfactory, with pathogenic/likely pathogenic CNVs identified in 50/329 (15.2%) Italian patients. The ten most enriched gene sets identified by Gene Ontology Enrichment Analysis are primarily involved in neuronal function and synaptic connectivity.

Raman spectroscopic study of the mineral xonotlite Ca6Si6O17(OH)2 - A component of plaster boards [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The mineral xonotlite Ca 6Si 6O 17(OH) 2 is a crystalline calcium silicate hydrate which is widely used in plaster boards and in many industrial applications. The structure of xonotlite is best described as having a dreierdoppelketten silicate structure,

Recurrent PAK2 rearrangements in poroma with folliculo‐sebaceous differentiation

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 83, Issue 2, Page 310-319, August 2023., 2023
Folliculo‐sebaceous poroma are small dermal tumours similar to eccrine poroma, but harbour ducts with frequent eosinophilic cuticles, infundibular cysts, and sparse sebocytes. Genetic investigation of the cases revealed recurrent fusion transcripts involving the PAK2 gene.

Drivers of behaviour and spatial ecology of the small spotted catshark (Scyliorhinus canicula)

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 443-457, May 2023., 2023
Abstract Shark populations have suffered dramatic declines across the world as a result of overfishing. Marine protected areas (MPAs) can help restore overfished populations; however, their effectiveness largely relies on understanding the ecology of the targeted species.

First principles theory of the EPR g-tensor in solids: defects in quartz [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A theory for the reliable prediction of the EPR g-tensor for paramagnetic defects in solids is presented. It is based on density functional theory and on the gauge including projector augmented wave (GIPAW) approach to the calculation of all-electron ...

Distinct regulations driving YAP1 expression loss in poroma, porocarcinoma and RB1‐deficient skin carcinoma

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 82, Issue 6, Page 885-898, May 2023., 2023
Recently, YAP1 fusion genes have been demonstrated in eccrine poroma and porocarcinoma, resulting in YAP1 expression loss detectable by immunohistochemistry. In the present study, in addition to gene fusion mechanisms, we report that transcriptional repression of YAP1 can be observed in skin tumours with RB1 inactivation, including the majority of MCC ...
