A multilocus phylogeny of Asian noodlefishes Salangidae (Teleostei: Osmeriformes) with a revised classification of the family

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2012
A group of small and transparent Asian noodlefishes (Osmeriformes: Salangidae) are commercially important fishery species, however, interrelationships among these fishes remain unresolved in previous studies using mitochondrial markers. We re-examine phylogenetic relationships of Salangidae by including complete taxon sampling, based on seven nuclear ...

A New Genus of Cystidicolid Nematode From the Stomach of Galaxias maculatus (Osmeriformes: Galaxiidae) in Patagonia (Argentina)

Journal of Parasitology, 2009
During a parasitological survey of Galaxias maculatus (Jenyns) from Patagonian Andean Lakes, specimens of a new species of nematode were collected from the stomach of fish and studied by light and scanning electron microscopy. This species is described as the only member of a newly proposed genus of Cystidicolidae by having oral opening dorsoventrally ...

Infection of Myxobolus galaxii (Myxozoa) in Galaxias maculatus (Osmeriformes: Galaxiidae) From Northwestern Patagonian Andean Lakes (Argentina)

Journal of Parasitology, 2007
The infection of Myxobolus galaxii Szidat, 1953, from the musculature and abdominal organs of northwestern Patagonian Galaxias maculatus is described. Plasmodia are histozoic and intercellular. Spores are pyriform in valvar view and biconvex in sutural view, with 4-9 edge notches in the sutural line, varying in shape within the same plasmodium ...

Sundasalanx(Sundasalangidae) is a progenetic clupeiform, not a closely‐related group of salangids (Osmeriformes): mitogenomic evidence

Journal of Fish Biology, 2005
Partitioned Bayesian analysis of whole mitochondrial genome sequences from 30 basal teleosts confidently placed Sundasalanx(Sundasalangidae) within the Clupeiformes, not Osmeriformes as originally thought. This study represents the first demonstration of the phylogenetic position of Sundasalanx on a phylogenetic tree.

Ontogenetic changes in morphology of flathead galaxiid fishes (Osmeriformes: Galaxiidae) in South Island, New Zealand

New Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, 2011
Abstract We examined ontogenetic changes in morphology of four non-migratory ‘flathead’ galaxiid fishes and interspecific differences. Geometric analyses were used to determine where ontogenetic shifts occur, examine growth trajectories between taxa and compare interspecific differences with taxa standardised to each of three sizes. Ontogenetic changes
