Ruta graveolens L., também conhecida com arruda, é planta originária do sul da Europa, cultivada no Brasil e em outros países como planta medicinal, muito utilizada em rituais religiosos. Tendo em vista que a germinação constitui um fator primordial para

Physiological response of seeds of peanut genotypes to water deficiency
Among the factors that may influence the germination process of seeds, water deficiency is considered the most important. The present study aims to evaluate the physiological response of peanut genotypes to water deficiency.

Ecophysiological role of mucilaginous seed coat on germination and seedling growth of Balangu (Lallemantia royleana) imposed to drought and salinity stress [PDF]
It seems mucilaginous seed coat is an aspect of plants evolutionary adaptation to desert environments. Because of mucilage production, seed coat of Balangu Shirazi (Lallemantia royleana) absorbs water multiple times more than of its initial weight.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Effects of Water Potential on Anaerobic Methane Production and a Microbial Consortium
This study probed the effect of the water potential (Ψ) on anaerobic methane production and a microbial consortium. The Ψ level of the investigated anaerobic digester (n = 20) was in the range from −0.10 to −2.09 MPa with a mean value of −1.23 MPa, and ...

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
