Integrating VANETs in the Internet Core with OSPF : the MPR-OSPF Approach [PDF]

open access: yes2007 7th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications, 2007
Solutions for mobile ad hoc routing have matured over the last decade. Building atop these foundations, new challenges are set for MANETs, such as integration in the Internet core. On this topic, this paper designs and evaluates MPR-OSPF, an extension of the OSPF protocol enabling its operation on networks that may include both MANET nodes and usual ...

Routing in quantum networks with end‐to‐end knowledge

open access: yesIET Quantum Communication, Volume 6, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The authors propose a novel approach to quantum networking that enables the establishment of paths delivering end‐to‐end fidelity above a specified threshold, without detailed knowledge of the network's properties. Through simulations, the authors’ algorithms demonstrate superior performance in achieving high‐fidelity paths across diverse network ...

A predictive SD‐WAN traffic management method for IoT networks in multi‐datacenters using deep RNN

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 18, Issue 18, Page 1151-1165, November 2024.
An SDWAN‐based predictive traffic management policy using deep learning for IoT is proposed that minimizes the end‐to‐end delay and distribute the available bandwidths fairly among network links. Abstract Deploying the Internet of Things (IoT) in integrated edge‐cloud environments exposes the IoT traffic data to performance issues such as delay ...

Energy and throughput efficient mobile wireless sensor networks: A deep reinforcement learning approach

open access: yesIET Networks, Volume 13, Issue 5-6, Page 413-433, September-November 2024.
The proposed work investigates network connectivity issues with Mobile Wireless Sensor Network (MWSN) and proposes two routing algorithms, namely Self‐Organising Maps based‐Optimised Link State Routing and Deep Reinforcement Learning based‐Optimised Link State Routing for MWSNs.

Better Alternatives to OSPF Routing [PDF]

open access: yesAlgorithmica, 2005
The current standard for intra-domain network routing, Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), suffers from a number of problems-the tunable parameters (the weights) are hard to optimize, the chosen paths are not robust under changes in traffic or network state, and some network links are over-used at the expense of others.

Hard‐state Protocol Independent Multicast—Source‐Specific Multicast (HPIM‐SSM)

open access: yesIET Networks, Volume 13, Issue 5-6, Page 486-512, September-November 2024.
The authors propose the Hard‐state Protocol Independent Multicast—Source‐Specific Multicast (HPIM‐SSM), a novel multicast routing protocol that keeps the design principles of PIM‐SSM but overcomes its limitations, such as slow convergence and the possibility of creating suboptimal trees.

Improved 5G network slicing for enhanced QoS against attack in SDN environment using deep learning

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 18, Issue 13, Page 759-777, August 2024.
Software‐defined networking is utilized with the OpenFlow protocol and Ryu control to optimize broadband and enhance attack detection using neural networks. The proposed system was evaluated using a 5G dataset, and the results demonstrated an accuracy of 99%, surpassing the results of four previous articles.
