Alveolar Ridge Expansion: Comparison of Osseodensification and Conventional Osteotome Techniques

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2019
Objective: The aim of this in vivo study is to compare the osseointegration of endosteal implants placed in atrophic mandibular alveolar ridges with alveolar ridge expansion surgical protocol via an experimental osseodensification drilling versus conventional osteotome technique. Methods:

Absence of Healing Impairment in Osteotomies Prepared via Osseodensification Drilling

The International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry, 2019
This study sought to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate the effect of osteotomy preparation by conventional (control group) or OD (OD group) instrumentation on osteotomy healing. An incision of 10 cm was made in the anteroposterior direction over the hip in five sheep, and 15 osteotomies were prepared in the left ilium of the sheep (n = 3/sheep).

Maxillary Sinus Floor Elevation and Simultaneous Implant Installation via Osseodensification Drills: A Retrospective Analysis of Bone Gain in 72 Patients Followed for 6 Months

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Medicine
Background/Objectives: The aim of this retrospective study was to radiographically evaluate the endo-sinus bone gain (ESBG) following osseodensification procedures using CBCT and compare the results to more conventional sinus lifting techniques. Methods:

To Drill or to Densify? Clinical Indications for the Use of Osseodensification.

Compendium of continuing education in dentistry (Jamesburg, N.J. : 1995), 2019
As highlighted in part 1 of this two-part article, primary mechanical stability in implant dentistry is considered a prerequisite for successful osseointegration. While many surgical techniques have been conceptualized with the goal of improving implant stability, osseodensification (OD) represents a novel method utilizing the accumulation of ...

Osseodensification: An Overview of Scientific Rationale and Biological Background.

Compendium of continuing education in dentistry (Jamesburg, N.J. : 1995), 2019
In implant dentistry, primary mechanical stability is considered a prerequisite for successful osseointegration. That is, the alveolar bone architecture of the implant drilling site is critical in dictating the success rate of the implant. Immediately after implant placement, a series of cellular and molecular events occur directly on the implant ...

Osseodensification for maxillary sinus lifting and immediate implant placement

Revista Eletrônica Acervo Saúde
Aim: To report a clinical case using the bilateral osseodensification technique for lifting the maxillary sinus and implants placement. Case report: In total, 4 implants were placed in order to rehabilitate the patient, including 3 external hexagons. The patient had not enough bone height and width available for the placement of implants (classified ...
