Osseointegration – communication of cells
Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2011AbstractBackgroundThe article provides the scientific documentation for the 3D animated film – “Osseointegration – Communication of cells”.AimThe aim of this article and of the film is to visualise the molecular and cellular events during the healing of an osseous wound after installation of a dental implant with special emphasis on the process of ...

Osseointegrated Finger Prostheses
Journal of Hand Surgery (European Volume), 2008Amputation of a digit can lead to functional and psychological problems and patients can benefit from digital prostheses. Unfortunately, standard prostheses are often unstable, particularly when fitted over short amputation stumps. Prosthesis fixation by osseointegration is widely used in oral and extraoral applications and may help avoid the problem ...

Osseointegration of titanium implants
Acta Orthopaedica Scandinavica, 1986Forty-eight screws, six double cylindrical implants and six T-plates were inserted into the tibia or femur of 6 dogs. Two titanium screws were inserted into the proximal tibia of 5 patients to anchor a titanium mould. The implants were removed en bloc with adjacent bone tissue after 3 to 14 months.

Is osseointegration inflammation-triggered?
Medical Hypotheses, 2016Bioinert endosteal implants cause a foreign body reaction, whereas bioactive ones cause osseointegration. However, the mechanisms responsible for the two modi of host response remain unclear. COX-2(-/-) animal models showed the dependence of osseointegration on prostaglandins.

As life expectancy and the age of the general population increases so does the need for improved implants. A major contributor to the failure of implants is poor osseointegration, which is typically described as the direct connection between bone and ...

Osteoporosis and Osseointegration of Implants
Journal of Prosthodontics, 1993According to medical literature, osteoporosis and related bone pathologies are increasing in epidemic proportions. The exact etiology of the disease is unknown, but hormonal, dietary, and genetic factors all contribute to the related loss of bone density. In the disease process, bone loss occurs throughout the body. Research indicates that the mandible

Osseointegrated Dental Implants
Dental Clinics of North America, 1986Endosseous implants of commercially pure titanium have been demonstrated to give success rates of more than 90 per cent over 10 years of follow-up. This high level of clinical function depends on an implant direct anchorage in bone without any interposed soft tissue layers and on a reaction-free soft tissue surrounding the abutments. Provided a correct

Complications with osseointegrated implants
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1989Complications with a predictable implant system are possible in spite of 20 years of longitudinal clinical study and a success rate of 90% to 95%. A potpourri of surgical and prosthodontic complications using the Branemark implant are presented and evaluated.
