Short-process incudo-stapedioplasty in congenital ear malformation. [PDF]

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investig Otolaryngol
We report a novel surgical technique for stapes surgery in a patient with ear malformation and facial nerve anomaly, accompanied by a surgical video. The technique involved anchoring a Teflon wire piston to the short process of the incus. Postoperatively, the patient exhibited acceptable hearing improvement, with a 30 dB gain.

Plester’s Angled Prosthesis for Ossicular Chain Reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, 1998
Reconstruction of a defect of the long process of the incus by means of bone chips, cartilage grafts or other material do not give satisfactory long term results. Plester developed therefore an angled prosthesis to reconstruct the defect. It consists of a cross-slit gold bell which is connected with a double band titanium cuff by a tiny gold wire.
