Ossification of the epiglottis
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1992AbstractThe epiglottis is formed of elastic cartilage. Unlike the hyaline cartilage which forms the thyroid cartilage, cricoid and arytenoids, the elastic cartilage of the epiglottis does not undergo ossification with age. A case of ossification of the epiglottis is presented and heterotopic ossification in the head and neck is discussed.

Heterotopic ossification is becoming increasingly recognized as a phenomenon that can complicate trauma to the head and spinal cord. It can be a disabling accompaniment of thermal injury, and it may seriously compromise results in hip arthroplasty and the treatment of acetabular fractures.

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1975
SummaryIrregular growth of bone was seen in endometrial tissue curetted from a 41‐year‐old woman, 12 months after an abortion. Bone was present in a second specimen taken later. On hysterectomy 22 months after the abortion, no trace of the abnormal tissue was found.

Histochemistry of Ossification
1961Publisher Summary Rats and mice are the mammals most widely used for ossification studies. As a general rule, small animals are preferred because their bones are softer, it being usually unnecessary to decalcify the material when preparing the sections.

A potential mechanism of dural ossification in ossification of ligamentum flavum
Medical Hypotheses, 2016Ossification of the ligamentum flavum (OLF) mostly occurs in the thoracic spine, leading to thoracic spinal stenosis. Surgical treatment is considered as the best option for OLF patients. When the dura mater ossifies, the difficulty of surgery and the risk of complications significantly increase.

Dural Ossification in Ossification of the Ligamentum Flavum
Spine, 2009A retrospective review. The aim of this study is to highlight one of the under recognized and under reported aspects of ossification of the ligamentum flavum (OLF), namely, dural ossification in OLF and to discuss the incidence, radiologic signs, causes as well as the surgical and prognostic implications of dural ossification in OLF.OLF is being ...

Dendriforn Pulmonary Ossification
Pathology - Research and Practice, 1980Four cases of dendriform pulmonary ossification are reported from postmortem roentgenography of isolated lungs. All showed pathoanatomical evidence of chronic fibrosing, mostly interstitial, rarely intraalveolar pneumonia, besides the typical manifestations of dendriform pulmonary ossification.

Secondary Ossification Center Appearance and Closure in the Pelvis and Proximal Femur
Journal of pediatric orthopedics, 2016Introduction: Variable ossification patterns of the pelvis in skeletally immature patients can make the interpretation of pelvic radiographs challenging.
