Osteochondral Autograft Transplantation for Acute Osteochondral Fractures Associated with an Ankle Fracture

Foot and Ankle International, 2011
Background: Osteochondral fractures of the talar dome (OCFT) are frequently associated with ankle fractures. Controversy exists regarding the treatment of acute Grade III and IV OCFT. Osteochondral autograft transplantation (OAT) is a possible operative solution.

Osteochondral Fractures of The Talus

Clinics in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, 2001
Osteochondral fractures of the talus have become increasingly reported as awareness of this injury following ankle trauma has grown. Because hyaline cartilage does not have the ability to repair itself fully, surgical intervention is often necessary to create an optimal healing environment.

An Unusual Osteochondral Fracture of the Talus

Archives of Surgery, 1963
The presence of a loose body in the ankle joint, after osteochondritis dissecans or an osteochondral fracture of the talus, has been frequently described. Initially, isolated single cases were reported; more recently authors have reported larger series in an attempt to define the etiology and clinical course of this condition.1,11They have placed ...

OSTEOCHONDRAL FRACTURES OF THE FEMORAL CONDYLES

The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1966
1. The importance of recognising osteochondral fractures of the femoral condyle in the adolescent knee joint is emphasised. 2. The mechanism of the formation of the fractures is discussed. Essentially, a powerful rotary and compressive force shears off cartilage and subchondral bone.

Osteochondral fracture of the triquetrum: A case report

Journal of Hand Surgery, 2002
A case of osteochondral fracture of the triquetrum associated with pisiform subluxation in a 21-year-old woman is described. The fracture was diagnosed by tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. We consider that the fracture resulted from shear force produced by the pisiform subluxation.

Osteochondral Fractures of the Dome of the Talus

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1976
Fractures of the talor dome are uncommon and may elude diagnosis despite routine roentgenograms of injured ankles. Tomograms are helpful in localizing this lesion. Surgical removal of the osteochondral fragment is often indicated. Medial lesions may be inaccessible except by osteotomy of the medial malleolus which is then fixed with a bone screw ...

Osteochondral fracture of the talofibular joint

Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, 1989
Many accounts have been written concerning osteochondral fracture of the ankle joint. However, many of these pertain only to the talus. The author discusses an osteochondral fracture of the fibular articulating surface of the ankle joint. The etiology of the osteochondral fracture, previously undescribed, is postulated to arise from a plantarflexed ...

Osteochondral fractures of the dome of the talus

The British Journal of Radiology, 1979
Osteochondral fracture of the talar dome is an uncommon lesion occurring after ankle inversion and tearing of the lateral ligaments. This lesion can be overlooked if internal oblique radiographs are not obtained. The value of tomography is discussed. Symptoms may persist for many months if accurate radiographic diagnosis is delayed.

OSTEOCHONDRAL FRACTURES AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO OSTEOCHONDRITIS DISSECANS OF THE KNEE

The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1971
1. In sixty mature rabbits osteochondral fractures of various types were made in the medial femoral condyle. 2. The fractures or fragments which remained stable united but those in which movement occurred progressed to non-union. 3. An ununited osteochondral fragment resembled osteochondritis dissecans in the human both radiologically and ...

Fibrin fixation of osteochondral talar fracture

Acta Orthopaedica Scandinavica, 1990
Six osteochondral talar fractures in 5 patients were fixed with fibrin sealant. All the lesions healed uneventfully. After 1 year, 3 of the 4 athletes in the study had resumed their sports activities at the same level as prior to the accident.
