Non‐anatomical MPFL reconstruction and failure to address relevant pathologies are common reasons for treatment injuries following treatment for patellofemoral instability

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Management of patellofemoral instability (PFI) tailored to the individual patoanatomy can be complex with potential pitfalls. However, reports on complications and suboptimal outcomes remain limited. The aim of this study was to analyse problems related to PFI treatment in Denmark.

The New Munich Elbow Soft Tissue (MEST) classification is a reliable MRI‐based injury severity grading system for acute simple elbow dislocations

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Simple elbow dislocation (SED) is characterized by injuries to soft tissue structures. The aim of the novel Munich Elbow Soft Tissue (MEST) classification is to provide a systematic approach to grade the severity of musculoligamentous lesions after acute SED.

Concomitant cartilage restoration does not demonstrate consistent additional clinical benefit in medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction: A systematic review

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This review specifically evaluates whether the presence of cartilage lesions, or their surgical treatment, modifies the clinical benefit of medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction. Methods A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses) guidelines ...

INCIDENCE OF 2 SURGERY AFTER MPFL RECONSTRUCTION AND SIMULTANEOUS OSTEOCHONDRAL FRACTURE FIXATION IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS TREATED FOR PATELLAR DISLOCATION

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2020
Background: Osteochondral fractures occur in 5-15% of cases of acute or recurrent patellar dislocations. In these settings, early surgical intervention with biodegradable fixation nails is recommended to optimize healing.

Progress in bone tissue engineering biomaterials: Development, challenges, and prospects

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Scheme 1 Application of biomaterials in immunomodulation during bone tissue engineering. Abstract Bone defect repair remains a major clinical challenge in orthopedics. Over 2 million cases caused by trauma, tumors, and other factors occur annually, with large‐scale defects posing a particular bottleneck due to limited self‐healing capacity.

Cell Therapy for Periodontal, Soft‐Tissue, and Craniofacial Regeneration

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The clinical translation of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) represents a major advancement in dentistry, especially for periodontal, soft‐tissue, and craniofacial regeneration. However, several challenges remain to be addressed, including the absence of standardised protocols, limited scalability, regulatory hurdles, a lack of well‐controlled ...
