Percutaneous radiofrequency ablation versus open surgical resection for spinal osteoid osteoma
Spine Journal, 2019BACKGROUND CONTEXT Both open surgical resection (OSR) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) have been reported for spinal osteoid osteoma (OO). PURPOSE To verify the clinical safety and efficiency of RFA with OSR in treating spinal OO.

Osteoid Osteoma of the Trapezium: Case Report
Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone tumor representing approximately 10% of all benign bone tumors. Although osteoid osteoma of the long bones and carpus is frequent, the location in the trapezium is extremely rare.

Osteoid osteoma of the carpal bones
Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone tumor that rarely localizes in the hand or the carpal bones. We report two cases of osteoid osteoma localized in two different carpal banes. Unremitting wrist pain was a major clinical symptom.

Osteoid osteoma of the pisiform

We have discussed the pathological and clinical features in eleven examples of a distinctive type of benign tumor of bone. These tumors are characterized by a prominent network of osteoid trabeculae showing varying degrees of calcification and a vascular stroma which fairly frequently contains benign giant cells and little fibrous tissue.

Uncommonly affecting the carpus, osteoid osteoma, a benign bone lesion, will involve the hand in 10% of cases. With negative initial radiographs and persistent tenderness in a 15-year-old boy after a fall, a wrist magnetic resonance imaging revealed extensive hamate edema without a fracture line. He was casted for a presumed hamate fracture.
