Seven patients with spinal osteoid osteomas are reported and another 110 cases from the literature are reviewed. Among the patients spinal pain is the constant clinical complaint, while radicular pain and scoliosis are present in half of the patients. Whereas radiograms and tomograms of the spine are sometimes inadequate for diagnosis, bone scanning is

Orthopedics, 2008
Uncommonly affecting the carpus, osteoid osteoma, a benign bone lesion, will involve the hand in 10% of cases. With negative initial radiographs and persistent tenderness in a 15-year-old boy after a fall, a wrist magnetic resonance imaging revealed extensive hamate edema without a fracture line. He was casted for a presumed hamate fracture.

Prostaglandins in osteoid osteoma
International Orthopaedics, 1991Osteoid osteoma is a tumour of bone characterised by pain which is relieved by aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Very high levels of prostaglandins have been found in the lesion. In five patients with osteoid osteoma, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and prostacyclin (PGI2) synthesis in the nidus yielded 1155.6 +/- 496.5 (mean +/- SD) and 245.2 +

Osteoid osteoma of the acetabulum
International Orthopaedics, 1993Osteoid osteoma of the acetabulum can be expected to cause nonspecific symptoms of hip inflammation. In a sixteen year old girl, investigation by routine radiographs and a bone scan suggested a focus of inflammation with a nidus and sclerosis of the acetabulum and overgrowth of the head and neck of the femur.
