Triangular Lunulae in Papillon–Lefèvre Syndrome: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Triangular lunulae, typically associated with Nail–Patella Syndrome, may also present in other syndromes, as seen in this case. Papillon–Lefèvre syndrome is a rare genodermatosis linked to significant morbidity. Consanguinity is a recognized high‐risk factor.

Inulin Protects Caco‐2 Cells Against Lipopolysaccharide‐Induced Epithelial Barrier Dysfunction

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.
LPS treatment of Caco‐2 cells significantly increases inflammation in Caco‐2 cells. This increase in inflammation is followed by downregulation of tight junction proteins and increase in paracellular permeability. Inulin pretreatment protects Caco‐2 cells against LPS‐induced damage to the epithelial barrier function.

Combining Top‐Down and Bottom‐Up: An Open Microfluidic Microtumor Model for Investigating Tumor Cell‐ECM Interaction and Anti‐Metastasis

open access: yesSmall, Volume 21, Issue 9, March 5, 2025.
Here an open microfluidics‐based microtumor model is reported for studying tumor cell‐extracellular matrix (ECM) interaction and anti‐metastasis drug testing. By combining top‐down surface patterning and bottom‐up cell‐derived self‐organization of ECM in an under‐oil microenvironment, it allows seamless real‐time physical access to the system and ...

Guidelines for the standardization of pre‐analytical variables for salivary biomarker studies in Alzheimer's disease research: An updated review and consensus of the Salivary Biomarkers for Dementia Research Working Group

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 2, February 2025.
Abstract There is a pressing need for accessible biomarkers with high diagnostic accuracy for Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis to facilitate widespread screening, particularly in underserved groups. Saliva is an emerging specimen for measuring AD biomarkers, with distinct contexts of use that could complement blood and cerebrospinal fluid and detect ...
