Targeting RANKL Prevents Bone Loss, Improves Muscle Function and Extends Lifespan in Progeroid Mice
Targeting of RANKL by genetic and pharmacological approaches ameliorates key features of the progeroid phenotype in Zmpste24−/− mice. RANKL intervention restores bone mass, improves muscle phenotype, and extends survival. These findings support further exploration of RANKL‐targeted therapies for Hutchinson‐Gilford progeria syndrome.

This study investigated the bidirectional relationship and shared mechanisms between sarcopenia and osteoporosis using data from the UK Biobank. Our findings indicated that the two conditions may act as reciprocal risk factors, with multiple potential biomarkers mediating the muscle‐bone relationship and suggested possible shared signals between the ...

Osteosarcopenia: epidemiology, molecular mechanisms, and management. [PDF]
Osteosarcopenia (OS), a recently recognized syndrome characterized by the simultaneous occurrence of osteopenia/osteoporosis and sarcopenia, has emerged as an important concept in clinical practice. This integrated framework provides a comprehensive view of the musculoskeletal system, addressing a previously underappreciated aspect of muscle health. OS

ErZhi formula (EZF) is composed of Ligustri Lucidi Fructus (LLF) and Ecliptae herba (EH). Ovariectomized (OVX) and sham rats received 12‐week intragastric treatment with EZF, alendronate, and vehicle saline. Gastrocnemius tissues were harvested to systematically evaluate pharmacodynamic changes in skeletal muscle morphology, mitochondrial ...

Role of Physical Activity in Bone–Muscle Crosstalk: Biological Aspects and Clinical Implications
Bone and muscle tissues influence each other through the integration of mechanical and biochemical signals, giving rise to bone–muscle crosstalk. They are also known to secrete osteokines, myokines, and cytokines into the circulation, influencing the ...

ABSTRACT Evaluation of body composition (BC) is a set of biomarkers, including fat, muscle and bone, that allows the quantification of an individual's composition at different levels of complexity (whole body, tissues, macroscopic and microscopic). Recently, BC has gained medical interest due to its impact on health outcomes in both oncologic and non ...
