Application of external fixation devices for fractures of the femur in modern practice [PDF]

open access: yesСаратовский научно-медицинский журнал, 2014
Diaphyseal fractures of the femur are rather common. In the treatment of fractures of the femur various methods of osteosynthesis can be used: intramedullary, of plate, transosseus.

External Unilateral Fixator of Own Design for the Treatment of Selected Mandibular Fractures in Horses

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Most of the mandibular fractures occur as a result of accidents, kicks, or falls. The treatment of fractures located in the incisor region is quite successful with the use of the wiring method.

Prognostic Factors for Postoperative Complications. An Aggregate Protocol for 10 Observational Studies From the Danish TRIPLE‐A Cohort of 1.2 Million Surgeries

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 7, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Postoperative complications substantially increase morbidity, mortality and healthcare costs. Understanding prognostic factors is essential for risk stratification, targeted prevention strategies, and development of prediction models.

Fast-resorbable antibiotic-loaded hydrogel coating to reduce post-surgical infection after internal osteosynthesis: a multicenter randomized controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, 2017
BackgroundInfection is one of the main reasons for failure of orthopedic implants. Antibacterial coatings may prevent bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation, according to various preclinical studies.

Balancer‐assisted sling recovery of critical equine patients after general anaesthesia

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 38, Issue 8, Page 412-421, August 2026.
Summary Background Traditional sling‐based systems to assist horses during recovery from general anaesthesia (GA) could be improved by adding a balancer to obtain a dynamic weight relief. Objectives To evaluate the applicability of a novel balancer‐assisted sling system during recovery of horses after GA and to report initial experiences with high‐risk

Percutaneous compression screw fixation for hinge fractures in distal femoral osteotomy does not compromise radiographic or clinical outcomes: A retrospective case‐control study

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 13, Issue 3, July 2026.
Abstract Purpose The purpose of this study was to compare radiographic and clinical outcomes between patients undergoing distal femoral osteotomy (DFO) with intraoperative hinge fracture treated with percutaneous compression screw fixation and those without hinge fracture.

Comparison of Seda‐Block and Xylazine–Ketamine Anaesthesia for Metacarpal and Radioulnar Osteosynthesis in Calves

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
This abstract illustrates two bovine anaesthesia techniques: the brachial plexus block, which targets nerve roots at the shoulder and intravenous regional anaesthesia (IVRA), which uses a tourniquet and venous injection. Both methods provide effective distal forelimb analgesia for clinical and field surgical procedures in calves.
